While watching Porridge last night, which I would happily watch on a loop for all time and adore almost as much as my family, I realised that I very rarely post clips of it. And so here we are. This is from an episode from the second series called Happy Release. Good day.

the last of my #CastlevaniaNocturne s2 key animation, for Episode8 A few of these I ended up needing to drop as I left production, but they turned out so lovely in the final. I really enjoyed drawing pancake Richter

"As it turns out, the bird and the fish are separated by the endless sky. This longing feels so close, yet so far away Resolutely, I head out to the wild and desert sands, Before the tide recedes, I close my eyes, while you remain calm and tranquil as I break free from the land"

MIT’s latest research just just gave Robots a great new skill to grip delicate yet heavy objects without breaking them. The big problem is robots often cannot pick up heavy but fragile things because gripping hard enough usually means crushing or slipping. A single gripper shape has to do 2 conflicting jobs, it must move freely to form a wrap, then resist big forces while staying gentle. Open-ended grippers can snake into place, but they usually need stiffness to hold, and stiffness puts load into a few high-pressure contact points. Very soft grippers spread pressure well, but they can buckle or slide when the object is heavy, so they fail at the holding stage. This new idea from MIT, called loop closure grasping, completely avoids that tradeoff. Loop closure grasping starts as an open loop, meaning the robot has a free tip that can snake around clutter and find a good wrap. Once the wrap is right, the tip locks back onto the base, turning the shape into a closed loop that surrounds the object. Now the load is carried mainly by tension, like a sling, so the loop can stay very floppy in bending and still hold strongly without pointy pressure. The prototype uses inflatable “vine” beams that grow from the tip, then a clamp and winch to fasten, tighten, and finally deflate for soft holding. That combo lets it do awkward grasps, like lifting a 6.8kg kettlebell from a cluttered bin or pulling an object from 3m away. --- Paper - science. org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.ady9581

I think babies catch some traits from their parents as early as some few months after birth. I don’t like heavy makeup, and here is my baby boy looking at his mum with that exact “Momma, is that really you?” face because her and her sisters are all dressed up, made up, and heading out for a family engagement. The side-eye is inherited. What is the first trait your child copied from you? Drop it below.

You have a farm stand that you leave open 24 hours a day and a few people are taking advantage by stealing from you. What would you do? Police have already been shown the footage but I would close it up at night and use a motion sensor during the day so you can run out if needed when a customer comes.

Every parent dreads the day their kid comes home from school and asks them this question: "So when am I getting a phone?" A few weeks ago at Humans in the Loop I shared what we are helping families do about it (membership application below)

This is the attention to detail Tesla puts into the Cybertruck doors so it doesn’t unintentionally cut your fingers off. Remember these doors are super heavy and it could be dangerous if it closed on anyone’s finger. So what does Tesla do? Right when you open it, special levers are enabled to make it impossible for you to immediately close it. So after you open the door, you have to pull the door further out and then it will allow you to close it. These little things that are really a big deal, are what separates a Tesla from the rest, especially when it comes to safety.

Qullamaggie shows Exit Strategy for Long Swings “What’s your exit strategy for such long swings? How do you decide this? Okay, that’s easy. Let’s take an example, ROKU. So I bought it here, on the opening range size. It gapped up on earnings, huge volume. All the things I’m looking for. You know, long range break had like a 6, 7-month range break had surprising good earnings. Great growth, etc. I sell some, maybe 15 to 20%. A quarter of my position, and then I trail it. Then I just start trailing it like the first close below this purple line. That’s the 10-day moving average. I sell maybe say a quarter or a third of what I still have left. The shares I have left after the ones I bought. Sold into strength, and then I sell another third or quarter when it hits the first close below the 20-day moving average, which is the yellow line. And then the next level is the red line, which is the 50-day, etc. So that’s how I scale out. So that’s what I use these moving averages for. I wait for them to be my stop pretty much. So I wait until the end of the day and I sell it. Then I also have a level. Let’s just take an example right here. I usually use the previous swing’s lows as my stop. Then I would get out at 79. Even though it turns up intraday and closes above this yellow line, I would have to stop. You know, you can get stopped out because you know. I can, so you know. Sometimes stocks, they go, they can go down, you know, 20%.50% in a day, even. You know mid and large cap names can do that sometimes. So, you know, if it hits my last resort stop, it is my last resort stop. I just sell it. If that was helpful, those are my sell rules, sell into strength and I trail the rest.”

Obama in Philadelphia: So the man holds this big rally at Madison Square Garden. And the warm up speakers were trotting out and peddling the most racist, sexist, bigoted stereotypes. One guys called Puerto Rico 'an island of garbage.' These are fellow citizens he's talking about. These are Americans. They're people. And that is the reason why this election should not be close.

It's been 5 years since I started working in the industry! I made a progress reel of the last 5 years. It's been a lot of fun so far 🎈 My poses are often messy and I haven't animated much animations with heavy weight, so those are some things to improve in the next few years

Qullamaggie on The Big Money is Made in Holding Winners “Exactly. Big money is made in the sitting. I absolutely agree. All my biggest winners this year, SE, I was in this thing for what? 4 months? 3 months? Went up 160%. It didn't go up 160% in a day. No, it took 3 months. FSLY, another one. When we bought it on earnings here in the 30s, this thing went up 250%. It didn't go up 250% in a day, it took a couple of months. Now obviously I didn't trade this perfectly, but you know, it's all about catching big moves and catching the big juicy part in the middle. And you're gonna be financially independent in no time. On the big winners, I use the 10 and 20 day moving averages as trailing stops. That’s the mistake I made on NVAX. I really didn't wait for it to close below the 10 day. Like I just randomly sold it because I thought it was extended. Like, ah, it's not going to go up much more. I sold it like on this day here, right? It never even touched the 10 day. It went sideways for like a week. Then went up another 70%. If I had just had used the simple, close below the 10-day, which is what I usually use, the 10 and 20-day moving averages, my trailing stops, I would have made another, I don't know, a lot of money on it. Hundreds of thousands of dollars. So, you know, sometimes it's hard to stick to rules. It's hard. One thing I don't have a hard time with is stop losses, but sometimes, like I said before, holding a big winner is a really really hard thing to do sometimes. It really is. It's just unbelievably hard.”

ALERT: Secretary Bessent weighs in on the viral debate about the cost of burritos for college students: “My contribution to the burrito debate is I'm staying away from iceberg lettuce for another month.“ "That is, that is a tough way I hear to lose weight.” He says there’s hope regarding the conflict with Iran and the economy: “I hope in the next few days, we will have an agreement and start moving forward. Prices are gonna come back down, and the job opportunities in the private sector are very, very strong.”
