Another fantastic drill from UCLA women’s program 4v4 trail This drill simulates a scenario in which the offense has an advantage and the defense must help from the weak side. I love this drill because it usually leads to ‘X-Closeouts’ from the weak-side defense.

This is probably the HARDEST drill in golf... But if you can do it, you'll likely become an ELITE ball striker! (which is why many can't do it) Lead arm only swings... A great drill to help rotate the body better, but for this student, reduce the amount of trail side bend during the downswing Give this drill a go, it hard, but rewarding if you can do it 👊

Whistle Drill The Whistle Drill is a great drill that simulates the chaos that takes place during transition defense. Transition defense is basically a scramble situation. Players should not worry about finding "their man" during transition. They should be worried about taking away the lane and easy baskets, stopping the ball, and identifying where the shooters are located. The teams that... -Communicate -Anticipate -Hustle ....will be most successful in transition defense. The Whistle Drill requires players to do all 3 of these things and therefore is a perfect drill to prepare your teams to successfully navigate the chaos of transition defense. Two reasons I love this drill: 1️⃣ O has to be decisive. Left or right, plant and GO! 2️⃣D has to close space aggressively! All L’s by the defense come from giving the O too much room to work.

Develop Better Finishing and Decision Making With This Fast Break Drill Here's a great 2v1 drill to improve ball handling, passing, scoring, and decision making out of fast break advantage situations from the Youth Coaching System with Jim Huber. Even though these are youth players in the video, it's great for all ages! I actually got this drill from longtime college coach Don Kelbick. Drill Tips: -Attack and Think Lay Up! We got this drill from Don Kelbick and we teach the same mentality. You want to force the ball handler to attack and try to get a lay up. The only reason they pass is that the defender stops the ball. Personally, I’m okay if the initial ball handler takes some bad shots. I think having an assertive, attacking mentality will create more good things than bad. This mentality will eventually lead to more open passes for his teammate, because the defense will realize that they have to commit and stop the ball. -1 or 2 Pass Limit You could even add a pass limit of 1 or 2. That way, it’s more game like and they’re not going too slow. -Add a Countdown You could also introduce a time limit. If I see going too slow, I usually start saying, “3, 2, 1… “ and make a buzzer sound at zero. The kids actually enjoy it. -Make It 2v2 With a Trailing Defender It's also fun to add a trailing defender as another progression. You would simply add a 4th line somewhere in the middle of the floor. So you’d put a cone a little bit further in the middle of the court, so the trailing defender comes into the play a second or two later. -Change Offense and Defense Lines I also will switch up which lines are defense and offense, so players experience attacking the basket from all angles in transition. Give this drill a try and let us know what you think!

Because of this drill I tend to use my 56 degree for most chips. I do this 3 club chipping drill a lot. I like how it forces different feels, trajectories and requires me to react to the target. I will switch from 60 -> 56 -> 52 Same pin, different landing spots, spin and shot type. My practice data supports me using a 56 over a 60 on a lot of green side shots. This drill will help you to discover what is right for you.

The “Ozzie Drill.” In 1998, I was watching an interview on ESPN with Ozzie Smith, and he talked about his favorite drill…one that he uses to “improve, polish, and trust his glove instincts.” in the drill, Ozzie got on his knees and had a coach “Pepper” him from a short distance, and he had to let his hands work freely to pick or press the short hop or short in-between hop. No thinking … just trust. Get the brain out of the way. Because thinking is slow. I stayed awake at night thinking of ways I could modify this drill to work when working with a group of infielders. It hit me in the middle of one night. Woke up from a dead sleep of a way that we could make the drill very predictable and simplified. Once the foundation of the drill was built and mastered, I could grow the drill and make it unpredictable and much more challenging. ***The video below is a culmination of 26 years of teaching this drill. My son, Taber, grew up doing this drill as a little boy, HS player and college player. This video is him executing the Ozzie drill on his knees and feet when he was playing SS for UNCW.
