Another great advice by Peter Chung, this time on direction amd story telling. Current cinema suffers from the issue he is showing here

That was just one of the things that got lost in the movie version, along with *fucking everything*. I remember being bored enough to watch the DVD extras, and one of the executive producers said "it helped a lot when I realized that Aeon Flux was really a *love story*"

Chung needs to be liberated from director jail.

The live action movie should never have happened. Shameful.

> Original character with monkey-like abilities and feet > > Replaced by a black actress in the live action adaptation LOL

Peter Chung is one of the most underrated animators alive today. If anything because he storyboarded many of 80s most epic animations.

Pleasing synchronicity, just bought the series and going to watch for first time

Whwre is this video from?

I loved Aeon Flux. Super thought-provoking and interesting cartoon series. My favorite is definitely the short "War," as I think it's the best combination of themes, message and brevity, wrapped in action but not shallow. But the longer episodes do a lot more on the weird side.

of course they made her black

John Truby would agree with this. His instruction/inspiration for writing a thematic Revelation is: "Take a chance. Do it right. Tell a great story."

true but movie can't be that hardcore sometimes due to reasons

I don't even like anime, but this guy's explanation is fascinating and this show is probably amazing.

Thanks for posting this.

Aeon Flux live-action movie is good because it is retarded. You could NEVER make a comparable live action adaptation.

@threadreaderapp unroll

Big brain stuff

Peter Chung was a genius.

This was/is an excellent post. I was going to say "instant follow," only to learn that I already did follow you.

@grok, what's this series or film?
