Another great example of everyday Chinese efficiency we just experienced. We got the RV stuck (again, see quoted post below 👇) but this time it's completely not our fault: at the end of a one-way road a height restriction barrier had collapsed. It was meant to block trucks over...

Sorry, forgot to put this as a quoted post, that's the previous time we got the RV stuck 👇 and also got out of it in no time with a bit of pragmatism 😊

That's amazing. As an aside, it's surprising you noticed how low it was. You won't believe how often drivers here in LA just blast through (or attempt to blast through) low barriers as though the laws of physics (?) wouldn't prevent their vehicle from moving forward.

From the perspective of the dystopia most of the world is living on, normal civilized behavior seems surprising. Good for China to be a normal country

Arnaud how is that possible? Do police use flying drones or cars to get there? Is there NO traffic on theur roads? Are there Police Stations on every corner of every town, city & suburbs? That is amazingly efficient

Yes I think that every administrative subdivision (which gets very granular in China) has its own police station. They just came on small scooters as you can see on the video.

If I was younger, I and my wife would 100% emigrate to China (have only been to Beijing once a long time ago). I would so much love to live and work there and spend the rest of my life. Sad.

No wonder the West badmouths China. Chinese efficiency is a threat to the world and has to be stopped.

@realpingg2000 Don't you just love! There is something seriously wrong with our country. How did these people go from the cultural revolution to this?

Ryan Ho profil fotoğrafı

@RnaudBertrand @realpingg2000 "some academic cliques and official cliques". Who, precisely, were these people, and what explains their opposition to the people of China?

Ryan Ho profil fotoğrafı

You did the right thing by following the traffic rules and not reversing on a one-way street. Also, Chinese police do have a response time to reach the scene—if it takes too long and the situation is serious, they might face accountability afterward.

What wasn't mentioned here is that a lot of the road infrastructure is still pretty outdated, which creates real friction for RVers or cyclists. Good to see you mention the repair subsidies, though! More incidents like this may speed up infrastructure upgrades😅

In Weimar America, the non driving the RV would crash into the bridge, create a traffic jam, and wait for a tow truck and police to come and fix his mess.

OP : In Chembur, me and 4 of my friends/siblings had gone out to eat burgers when a drunk man in his 50s-60s, standing on the road smoking, suddenly started yelling at me repeatedly, “चल गाड़ी पर बैठ आ जा.” When I asked if he was talking to me, he said yes. My brother confronted him for speaking to a girl like that, after which the man started threatening and yelling at me saying things like “शानी बन रही है क्या?” and "तुझे दिखाता हूँ." He then ran away leaving his scooty behind, and we stayed there waiting for him to return. Around 15 minutes later, he came back with his wife and completely changed the story, claiming I approached him first. While we were arguing, a local man called people from the area and suddenly 20-25 people gathered around us. Things escalated quickly - my sister was physically pushed, my brothers were beaten, slapped and attacked, and when I tried stopping them, even I got pushed and hit. Elderly women from the crowd started slapping me too. Stones were thrown at us and huge rocks shattered our car's front glass completely. We were just 5-6 people against an entire mob. When we called the police expecting help, they immediately started yelling at us to sit in the police van without even hearing our side. Later we found out the local man involved was apparently known to the police. At the station, instead of taking the harassment and assault seriously, we were mocked, interrupted, yelled at, and treated like criminals. One officer kept staring at my chest while I was trying to explain what happened, and one of my friends was even slapped by a cop for speaking against the local man they were favouring. By the end of it, we were so traumatised, exhausted and emotionally drained that we gave up on filing the complaint altogether. So the question is - is this how safe women are in Mumbai? If girls can get verbally/ sexually harassed, physically attacked, and then mocked at police stations too, who are common people supposed to go for help?
