Quick thinking #DCSO deputies catch another auto theft suspect. On Monday night, patrol deputies responded to a report of an in-progress vehicle theft on Mill Vista Road in Highlands Ranch. Responding deputies quickly established a perimeter and began searching the area. The vehicle was located, occupied, in a parking garage on Mill Vista Road. Upon observing law enforcement in the area, the suspect vehicle attempted to back out of a parking space. The deputy activated the patrol vehicle's emergency lights and pulled forward to signal the suspect to stop. The suspect vehicle accelerated forward, scraping, and colliding with the front passenger side push bumper of the patrol vehicle. The vehicle ran a stop sign and sped away. Deputies pursued the vehicle for a short distance, and the suspect vehicle spun out of control and rolled backwards into a metal railing, where it was pinned in place by deputies. The suspect, later identified as Armon Chism (DOB: 05/15/1982), of Denver, fled from the vehicle, and a short foot pursuit was initiated by pursuing deputies. The suspect was placed into custody after a successful taser deployment. While conducting their investigation, deputies were able to establish probable cause that Chism was a suspect in an earlier vehicle pursuit of a stolen Hyundai Tucson at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and County Line Road. Chism was found to be in possession of the stolen Hyundai ignition key and the vehicle was recovered nearby. Chism was booked into the Douglas County Jail for investigation of Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Protection Order Violation, and Criminal Impersonation. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “We will not allow criminals to victimize Douglas County residents. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community will continue to work tirelessly to protect our residents and their property. The kids referred to him as “dad” and “other daddy.” Both Stephens and Langley were arrested and placed in handcuffs and began arguing with one another. At one point, Stephens runs away from the deputies and at least one chases after him. He runs a short distance before smacking into the sand and appearing to be unconscious. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation and released to the Volusia County jail hours after. Stephens faced charges of child neglect, alcohol possession and attempt to escape custody. A 13 year-old has been shot in the leg inside of Wheaton Mall, while another juvenile has been taken into custody🚨 Montgomery County Police and Fire & Rescue were called out to the mall on Veirs Mill Road at around 6pm for a shooting. On December 26, 2025, deputies from our felony unit were in the 2200 block of Buchanan Bay Circle doing surveillance of a homicide suspect so they could serve a DNA search warrant in a murder that happened on Christmas Eve. While deputies were surveilling the residence, two men – the homicide suspect and another man - came out and the second man opened fire on deputies, striking one of our unmarked vehicles. One deputy returned fire, striking the 20-year-old shooter. Deputies rendered aid until paramedics were able to get to the scene and transport the man to the hospital, where he is undergoing surgery tonight. He will face charges for shooting at our deputies. The suspect in our homicide case – who was also armed with a handgun – was detained and was being questioned by our detectives late this evening. As is our standard procedure, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting and will turn over its findings to the State Attorney’s Office for review. Once that process is completed, OCSO will conduct its own internal investigation. The deputy who fired his weapon is on temporary, paid administrative leave.

Deputies made contact with Henry who refused to exit the vehicle. Henry was a wanted suspect, he threatened to damage the deputy's vehicle and stated he was not going to exit the vehicle or comply with commands. The deputy observed Henry place the vehicle into four-wheel drive and into gear attempting to drive away. The deputy reached out and appeared to puncture the back left tire. Henry fled leading deputies on a slow speed pursuit through the Village of Paw Paw. After a short pursuit, stop sticks were deployed, which disabled the vehicle. The suspect stopped and surrendered without further incident. The suspect, who is not a resident of Douglas County, is facing charges of second degree burglary, first degree motor vehicle theft, felony eluding and driving under the influence. If you steal from our businesses, we WILL find you and we WILL arrest you,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly. “We’re grateful for retailers who report these incidents right away.” Deputies monitored the suspects as they got onto C‑470. The driver exited at Yosemite, stopped, and tried to run. Deputies caught him in a nearby field where he apologized and asked “what was I supposed to do?” Our deputy responded, “Not run brother.” A second suspect fled toward Lone Tree. With help from Lone Tree Police Department, deputies found him hiding in heavy brush. He surrendered and was taken into custody. The truck jackknifed at the Yosemite exit after the suspects bailed out, damaging their own vehicle but no others. Not in Douglas County! 🚫🚔 You can run, and you can try to hide, but we will find you. Earlier this month, an alert deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle in the King Soopers parking lot on S. Quebec Street. The car was parked in a handicap spot with expired temporary tags (April 2024). The vehicle had been flagged earlier that day for running from police in another jurisdiction. One person was detained immediately, but two men…both Aurora residents…decided to take their chances on foot. It was all hands on deck to ensure they didn't get far: •Patrol Deputies established a tight perimeter. •Drones provided overhead surveillance. •K-9 Rudy, our IMPACT unit and our Traffic team conducted a ground search. One runner was caught quickly near a local business. The second suspect led deputies on a search through a nearby residential neighborhood. Thanks to vigilant citizens who pointed the way, deputies located the suspect hiding behind a first-floor balcony and safely took him into custody. The primary suspect was found to have multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants, including charges for burglary, stalking, and forgery. All three now face charges of obstruction. On Friday, June 26, 2026, PCSO deputies arrested 12 adults and 3 juveniles who were stealing food and drinks at the Davenport Wawa located on Old Lake Wilson Road; all of the suspects have been staying in an AirBNB visiting Polk from other counties in Florida. A 16th suspect was arrested during the investigation for interfering with deputies while they were detaining the theft suspects. Store employees contacted the Sheriff's Office after observing the suspects walking around the store, concealing bottled drinks and some food within their clothes. 🚨 Another Night, Another Flock Success Story! 🚔💥 Last night, our FLOCK license plate reader system flagged a stolen vehicle. Deputies from the Graves shift quickly responded, locating the vehicle, which took off, sparking a pursuit. The chase ended dramatically when the suspects crashed into a building. Thankfully, no one was injured, and even better, all suspects were safely taken into custody. “This is a great example of technology and teamwork coming together to keep our community safe. 🚨 Another Night, Another Flock Success Story! 🚔💥 Last night, our FLOCK license plate reader system flagged a stolen vehicle. Deputies from the Graves shift quickly responded, locating the vehicle, which took off, sparking a pursuit. The chase ended dramatically when the suspects crashed into a building. After spending HOURS hiding merchandise throughout Walmart, one claimed she was a minor while both refused to give their names or ages and acted like deputies were wasting their time. They quickly learned that attitude doesn't stop an investigation. According to deputies, the two young women spent hours inside the store concealing merchandise on their bodies, in bags, and throughout different aisles before walking past every register without paying. During the investigation, one claimed she was a minor, while both refused to identify themselves or provide their ages, forcing deputies to verify who they were. Investigators ultimately determined they were legal adults. The alleged value of the recovered merchandise totaled $513.04. Current charges: Petit Theft.
