We had a company vehicle stolen from our Westminster location several weeks ago. Last week we received a parking ticket from our 'friends' in the Denver police department. They ticketed our stolen vehicle after it was listed as stolen and wanted us to pay the ticket.

People always complaining about officer involved shootings. These criminals are lucky there isn’t more. I think officers show restraint more than an average citizen would.

🚨 Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Arrest 🚔 Graves B deputies were alerted by a Flock camera to a stolen vehicle. Deputies quickly responded and located the vehicle, which was parked at an apartment complex. As one deputy waited for backup, the suspect unexpectedly drove off. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled, initiating a pursuit. Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating some of the vehicle's tires, but the suspect continued to flee. A Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) was used and was initially successful, but as deputies attempted to pin the vehicle, the suspect rammed a patrol car and kept going. A second TVI was performed and successfully disabled the vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot but was caught after a short foot pursuit. One deputy was transported to the hospital after their patrol vehicle was struck. Thankfully, they are expected to make a full recovery. A search of the vehicle revealed narcotics and other suspicious items. The driver (a Denver resident) was arrested and charged with: •Motor Vehicle Theft (F4) •Assault in the Second Degree – Peace Officer (F4) •Vehicular Eluding (F5) •Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (DF4) •Reckless Endangerment (M2) •Unlawful Possession of Schedule III, IV, V Controlled Substances (DM1) •Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (DPO) •Driving Under Restraint (Traffic Offense) •Failure to Obey Traffic Signal (Traffic Offense) •Driving on Wrong Side of Roadway (Traffic Offense) •3 Counts – Violation of Protection Order (M1) •Criminal Possession of a Financial Device (M2) Additionally, the suspect had 2 active felony warrants and 2 misdemeanor warrants. “Outstanding teamwork by our deputies brought this dangerous situation to a safe conclusion. Let me be clear: criminals are not welcome in Douglas County. If you come here to commit crimes, we will pursue you, and we will catch you. We are grateful for the bravery of our deputies,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly. Note: A charge is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Douglas County Deputies Assist in DUI Pursuit with Successful Grappler Deployment In the early hours of October 4, 2025, at approximately 4:22 A.M., Douglas County Deputies responded to assist the Aurora Police Department in pursuit of a suspected DUI driver traveling westbound on E-470, passing Gartrell Road. Douglas County deputies responded immediately and set up two sets of stop sticks along E-470 in an attempt to bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion. Despite these efforts, the suspect vehicle continued westbound. A Douglas County Deputy, operating a patrol vehicle equipped with the Grappler device, joined the pursuit along with another deputy. After positioning behind the suspect, both maneuvered to the front of the pursuit. The suspect vehicle, which struck the concrete barrier multiple times, was ultimately stopped when our deputy successfully deployed the Grappler just west of South Quebec Street. The vehicle was brought to an immediate and controlled stop. The suspect was compliant and taken into custody by Aurora Police without incident. Sheriff Weekly said, “I am proud of the seamless coordination between our deputies and our partners at APD. This incident highlights the power of innovative tools like the Grappler. By effectively deploying cutting-edge technology, we’re able to bring dangerous situations to a safe conclusion while minimizing risk to the public. Douglas County remains committed to staying at the forefront of law enforcement tactics that enhance safety and effectiveness in the field.”

You can run, but our deputies can run faster! Great proactive policing leads to two arrests after dealership theft. On Sunday night, at approximately 9:30, a deputy was patrolling the parking lot of a car dealership in the 1000 Block of Plum Valley Lane in Highlands Ranch, when he observed a suspicious U-Haul truck. The vehicle was loaded with approximately $10,000 worth of tires and wheels, which had been taken from a locked storage cage behind the dealership. The suspects fled the scene on foot before contact could be made. Shortly afterward, deputies received a call about two males attempting to break into vehicles at the nearby hotel on Plaza Drive. A perimeter was quickly established, with the assistance of drone and K9 units. One suspect was contacted in the hotel lobby, and the second was apprehended by deputies following a brief foot chase. A U-Haul key was found in one of the suspect’s pockets – and he was confirmed to have rented the vehicle. Thanks to the determination and teamwork of our deputies on Swings A, both suspects (not Douglas County residents) were taken into custody without further incident. Sheriff Darren Weekly said, "I'm proud of our deputies for staying sharp, trusting their instincts, and taking quick action. This is the kind of relentless dedication our community can count on. No matter how big or small the crime, we will go after criminals and chase them down. If you break the law in Douglas County, we will find you, and we will hold you accountable. We're not backing down."

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Dallas Police officers assigned to the Project Safe Neighborhood Task Force located a vehicle that was reported stolen in an armed carjacking on March 15. The officers called for additional units and AIR-1 to maintain visual contact with the vehicle before attempting a traffic stop in the 12300 block of Greenville Avenue. As officers approached and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle, the car took off, and the officers immediately began to pursue it. With AIR-1 overhead, the suspect drove the wrong way down Greenville Avenue, and officers chased the driver onto I-635 with the suspect’s speed approaching 120 miles per hour. The suspect exited the freeway at Jupiter Road and continued to speed through residential areas. Because the helicopter was tracking the suspect, officers were able to safely navigate the residential areas and surface streets, following the suspect back onto I-635. The suspect sped through a construction zone, again reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour until he exited on Town East Boulevard and headed into the City of Mesquite, driving into oncoming traffic into the 2000 block of Town East Boulevard. With traffic building ahead, the suspect attempted to drive over the median and his vehicle became disabled. Dallas Police officers, assisted by officers from Mesquite and deputies from the Dallas Sheriff’s Office, took the suspect into custody. He was identified as 46-year-old Alfredo Hernandez and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a state jail felony; Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, a third-degree felony; Manufacture / Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a second-degree felony; and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, a third-degree felony. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. This investigation is documented under case number 037178-2026.

Suspect vehicle and altercation - On October 12, 2024, Sheriff T.K. Waters, alongside Undersheriff Shawn Coarsey, joined Chief of Investigation Alan Parker to provide details leading up to the murder of one of our Corrections Officers. At approximately 1:20 a.m., in the 12900 block of Duval Road, a black Mustang occupied by a black male (suspect) and a female, were involved in a violent dispute. During the argument, the suspect was observed exiting the vehicle from the passenger seat and walking around to the driver’s side. The suspect then placed a black handgun on the hood of the vehicle and removed the female from the driver’s seat. The male proceeded to batter the female, violently throwing her against the vehicle and the ground. During the commotion, off-duty Corrections Officer Bradley McNew #7697, who just finished his shift, heard the disturbance and went to check on the female victim. The suspect approached Officer McNew, stating it was a family matter, then re-engaged with the female before pointing the gun in Officer McNew’s direction. The suspect and female eventually returned to the vehicle. As they left the scene, the suspect was observed hanging out of the window, firing the firearm, and ultimately striking Officer McNew. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. This is an ongoing investigation, and we ask the public to remain vigilant and consider the suspect armed and dangerous. The vehicle was reported heading northbound on Main Street towards Nassau County. It is a 2000s black Mustang with North Carolina license plate RHL-4285. Please do not approach the suspect or vehicle; call 911 immediately if observed.
