David Eby criticizing Kerry-Lynne Findlay for meeting with Alberta's Premier misses the bigger issue entirely. British Columbia should be building stronger relationships with Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the rest of Western Canada. The West faces many of the same challenges: affordability, resource development, trade barriers, infrastructure, energy security, and an Ottawa that too often dictates policy from 4,000 kilometres away. Strong provincial leaders build alliances. They don't isolate themselves. While Eby attacks meetings between western leaders, British Columbians are facing rising costs, growing economic uncertainty, and one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. Families are struggling to get ahead, businesses are facing mounting pressures, and investment continues to leave the province. Instead of standing up for British Columbia's interests, Eby too often seems focused on aligning with Ottawa's agenda, even when it comes at the expense of BC workers, BC industries, and BC communities. Kerry-Lynne Findlay meeting with Danielle Smith isn't a problem. The problem is that British Columbia has a Premier who appears more interested in political attacks than building a strong Western coalition capable of advancing the interests of the people he was elected to serve. The West is stronger when it works together. British Columbia is weaker when its Premier chooses partisanship over partnership.
