Another reason for S&C classes during the school day: kids after school schedules are OVER schedule- homework, work, practice, games, social life. If they can get it done during an elective. Let them! Their school experience doesn’t end after the last bell. Make their life easier

Too many kids are over scheduled. Organized sports, music lessons, after school activities... The issue is that kids are missing out on one of the most important activities for their development: Unstructured play. Play is where kids get to use their imagination & creativity. Its how they learn to socialize & develop problem solving skills. Its been shown to support healthy brain development & lower stress. Kids need minimum 1hr a day of time & space to do whatever they please. Make it a pillar in their schedule and add other activities around it.

School children and their parents blocked Tsotne Dadiani street in Tbilisi - unexpectedly for everyone. They are fed up with online classes and want their school to finally be constructed. I wonder if they are going to jail anyone from this particular protest for 15 days, since they “artificially blocked the road.” When journalists asked them, the parents knew about the draconian law and didn't care. Yes. My area is terribly flooded and it’s been raining back to back. Kids can’t even go to school cos school buses are refusing to cross over so water doesn’t spoil their vehicles. See my son in the first video being backed by security man on his way back from school 😂😂😂 when I asked him how his experience was like, he said: Daddy this is not life😂😂😂

All these kids just lost their parents after an Israeli air strike on their house. They are originally from Gaza city, and they evacuated to the middle area to be safe, but last night at 2 am the house they were in was targeted. The boy in the last video was injured after an air strike on the school him and his family were sheltering in. He is in pain and he is asking for a bed. He doesn’t want to be on the floor. He just wants to sleep. The hospital is extremely overwhelmed.

This valedictorian at Cardington-Lincoln High School in Ohio said a good part of his graduation speech was removed before the graduation ceremony and that he was interrupted after not staying on script during the ceremony. You can see the principal walk up and shove him away from the podium. 😳 The school district said it followed proper procedures for graduation speeches and tried to create a positive experience for all the graduates. The Class of 2026 valedictorian, Brandon Hughes, said the message he wanted to deliver was aimed at students who may not always feel seen or felt excluded. “My message originally was never intended to be about the school. It was never intended to be any personal insult,” Hughes said. “My heart when I wrote that speech was truly about the kids who feel less seen.” Hughes said school officials required him to remove portions of the speech he submitted for approval. Brandon said his grad speech was meant to give encouragement to his classmates and to let them know that their futures are not defined by their high school experience. Also, when he opened his graduation envelope there was no diploma inside. He received it after the ceremony. His mother said she could see the look in Brandon’s eyes when he realized there was no diploma and it broke her heart. I think it is commendable that Brandon wanted to let the students who may not have had a positive high school experience know that their high school years are just a blip on the radar screen and to not let it define them. 👏 Good for you Brandon! I don’t see anything wrong with the message you intended to give. And I think it would have given someone who didn’t have a great experience in high school some hope. 💯 Do you think the school was justified in cutting him off and pushing him aside from the podium since they were following their protocol? Or, do you think that he should have been able to give his full speech since he earned it with his hard work in becoming the Class valedictorian?

The ATG School One-Pager I’m not trying to reinvent schooling. There are just a handful of things I believe in which I haven’t seen in any school I’ve been around as a student or parent. Policy #1: Each student gets to be responsible for growing some of their own food, no matter how small, and THROUGHOUT schooling (not just a quickie project here or there). Policy #2: Minimum 1:1 ratio of time NOT SITTING IN THE CLASSROOM. What you do with this is up to you. There are so many real world skills, sports, gardening, music, etc. The strict ratio in the school day is the key for me. Common sense and personal interests can take it from there. Policy #3: Daily time to read whatever you want to read about. The biggest barrier for my reading was INTEREST. Be there to ensure the book is at their level, and to help them if they don’t understand something. Other than that, LET THEM ENJOY READING, ALL THE WAY THROUGH SCHOOL, not just in early years. Policy #4: (This is the most unusual yet the biggest reason I’m in education.) High school is a 50/50 bridge to winning in real life. Mornings are for actual work, making and SAVING UP MONEY. Afternoons are for learning finances and professional skills of YOUR INTEREST. With average work, you’ll finish school with $50,000-$100,000 in the bank, more skills than the norm, and a greater chance of creating your life and work from there on out, rather than conforming to make a paycheck. Policy #5: As part of the high school 50/50 system, ensure each student learns the adult financial red tape in your state/country before you’ve got bills, kids, etc.

Today, I travelled for over 3 hours to Agona Odoben in the Central Region to meet 5-year-old twins, Robert and Roberta. They have been abandoned by both parents and live with their grandmother, who is doing her best but simply does not have the means. They are currently not in school because of this, and even basic things like food and clothing are a struggle. I got to know about them through my friend Kelvin, and I just knew I had to show up for them. So today, we went to see them and began the process of enrolling them in school. We have made arrangements for their uniforms and learning materials to enable them to start school this month. It really does take one moment, and people choosing to care, to change the entire course of a child’s life for good. Robert and Roberta deserve a chance at a better future, and we are going to do everything we can to make sure they get it. ❤️

I've been terribly sad about GoLemon shutting down. For the past two years, I haven't had to go to the market for my bulk grocery shopping. Even during Christmas, I'd order foodstuff from them to take to my parents too. They made my life so much easier. Sure, I had disagreements with their customer service sometimes, but my experience with them was largely good and they always did their best make it right. The last time I ordered from them, I complained about the pepper and they brought a new batch. The person who got in touch with me, Yinka, was incredibly warm and kind. GoLemon was a beautiful company that solved a real problem I lived with every month. It is clear their founders gave their all. I wish the team all the best in their future endeavours. Thank you for your great work, GoLemon 🍋, .jj 🍋.

It's a well established practice and it's here to stay" Many of my friends have kids in private schools which have slightly different term times to state schools, and I've seen them take advantage of cheaper holidays simply by virtue of the slightly different dates..
