Green Bay Packers OC Adam Stenavich - Outside Zone Combo Block Drill. - Emphasis on drilling the different types of defensive reactions you will see versus outside zone combination blocks. - Uncovered OL in combo makes decision which technique to use at 3 steps - Climb = Technique used where the uncovered OL can't Overtake/Punch Out the DL from the covered OL. - Punch Out = Technique used when the inside OL on the double team can't overtake the edge defender. Creates/defines the read for the back. Punch Out defender on the covered OL - Overtake = Inside OL takes over the covered OL defender.

Skill Development: I’ve been asked a lot about why I do multiple reps back to back. I think there is time & place for both. We have times when we are only focused on 1 thing. But with these two I’m working on next play speed (the mental toughness to go to the next play) and fitness. This is just a 3part drill working on multiple skills and shots, out of actions we do. I also allow input from them. #GrowOurGame #EarnWhatYouWant

If you suffer from a HOOK SHOT (or block), this is my number 1 drill to fix it! 🔹A hook shot comes from having an excessive “in to out” path, with a face excessively closed to that path 🔹Place an alignment stick behind the ball, half a foot on the inside of the ball line 🔹Place another stick in front of the ball on the outside of the ball line 🔹Now you have a training space where you can’t come from too far inside the ball, giving you a much more neutral path or even an out to in path To ensure the face isn’t closing too much through the impact area, check your grip isn’t too strong or that the arms aren’t rolling over too much which can cause the face to close Hook gone! The hurdle drill cleaned up more of our pull issues than anything else. Why we use it: • Forces depth on the pull First 2–4 steps matter. Kids who cheat depth get exposed immediately. • Separates kick vs wrap paths Kick comes downhill. Wrap gains depth, gets square, eyes inside. • Teaches speed through contact If they slow down at the hurdle, they’ll slow down on Friday night. • Fixes aiming points Kick = same shoulder as pull direction. Wrap = inside shoulder, run through daylight. • Eliminates chasing Wrap guard learns to stay on track and let the RB make him right. • Progresses cleanly Hurdles → bags → coaches → live reads. Same drill, more reality. We run kick and wrap at the same time so timing and spacing stay game-real. Simple setup. Clear feedback. Big carryover to Buck, Counter, Power. That drill (plus how we coach it and common mistakes) is laid out step-by-step here:

Punt Return Slingshot Drill - The slingshot drill is designed to help a punt returner get back into phase after a defender has beaten them or released in an unexpected direction. - For the drill to be effective, the player acting as the punt team defender must power through for at least four yards despite being slowed down by the returner. - To initiate the technique, the returner should place one hand firmly on the defender's hip as they move past. - The returner then reaches around with their second hand to grab the defender's hip, using the defender's own forward momentum to pull themselves back into position. - The ultimate goal of the slingshot is for the returner to regain side control and establish a position that is an arm's length away from the defender. - While grabbing a defender's shoulder pads is likely to be penalized, using the slingshot technique at the hip is rarely called by officials and effectively slows the defender down. “The Ozzie Drill.” Back in 1998, I watched an ESPN interview with Ozzie Smith where he talked about one of his favorite drills — one he used to “improve, polish, and trust his glove instincts.” In the drill, Ozzie got on his knees while a coach peppered him from short distance. The goal was to let the hands work freely to pick or press short hops and in-between hops. No thinking. Just react and trust. Because thinking is slow. I stayed up at night trying to figure out how to adapt this drill for a full group of infielders. One night, I woke up out of a dead sleep with the answer — a way to make the drill simple, repeatable, and predictable for teaching purposes. Once players mastered the foundation, we could expand the drill, make it unpredictable, and challenge instincts at a much higher level. -Trent Mongero

Best ⚾ Pitcher Mobility Drill A common problem for baseball pitchers is the gradual tightness and loss of ROM in the shoulder over the course of the game and season. The goal is to restore mobility BEFORE your athlete picks up a ball and then maintain it. Try the “2-Out Drill” to warm up your athlete before pitching and to maintain mobility between innings throughout a game. 👇 Here it is: 1️⃣ Static Stretches - you want to start with these and hold each pose for only about 3 seconds. Exercises like the cross-body stretch and wrist flexion. 2️⃣ Rotator Cuff Activation Drills - these will really fire up the rotator cuff and warm it up. Perform 5 circles forward and 5 circles back in both large circles and small circles. 3️⃣ Movement Prep - here you really want to get dynamic, with cross-body hugs, swims, and field goals, about 5 each. 4️⃣ Trunk Rotation - Lastly, we’re going to work on trunk rotation drills This entire drill might take 1-2 minutes but has been shown scientifically to improve ROM and performance over the course of a game. It’s designed to be quick enough to do for pitchers in the dugout when there are two outs and they are getting ready to head back out. Want to work with professional baseball players?
