Another test I asked Astra to create a low geometry Silent Hill style kitchen with Three.js using the AI render projection technique I explained earlier. It works, even though it’s still not perfect.

@threejs Resident Evil vibe

@threejs Yes, visually it’s kind similar to the Resident Evil HD Remaster style, but rendered entirely in real-time.

@threejs That's very good and interesting to learn

@threejs You should reduce your FOV to more like 50mm so it doesnt look so fish eye lensed and looks more like how humans see. A few post processing effects will go a long way here as well.

@threejs Man, I really hope you take some time to record you talking about the technical approach and the insights you saw before you started building that got you to start and get to this point.

@threejs How are you storing the projection? Just as image files? What is the filesize of a scene like this? Very interesting stuff.

@threejs Damn! the combo is fine. SOTA in Minidramas and low come movie creators and movie producers.

@threejs It is very good. Definitely better than Townfall visual design. But that plastic sheen on the surfaces, it always looks ugly, in all the games. The fewer shiny surfaces, the better

@threejs this is cool. i assume you don't need the mesh in production? keep building!

A cramped, dim kitchen is the kindest room for projection: hardly any surface the render didn't see. How far can the camera drift from the projection point before the cabinets start to smear?

@threejs Did Astra create all the geometry directly in three.js or did you use other tools first?

Alex's profile picture

@threejs Yes, Astra created all the geometry and then projected the AI generated renders onto it.

@threejs Very cool and would be much better if you could figure out view-dependence for specular and reflections with this
