Also the weight probably should not include the can

Everyone who encounters fraud with grocery food weights should file a complaint directly with your local county or state Weights and Measures office, as they handle enforcement.

Half the product, full price, zero accountability. This is straight-up robbery.

My own results, but with a smaller can. Net wt of 14.5 oz. After vigorously scraping the can, i got to 14.4 oz so I don’t see a scam as the original post claims.

It's a labelling error. The label also says 1lb, which is 454g.

@RenzoGraciani Liquids measured in ounces convert to grams based on the density of the liquid, not the scale weight. To know if this is equivalent you need to multiply 12 oz by a factor (28.35 is an average). @walmart is not ripping people off because you are ignorant of liquid measurement.

This morning. Tare at zero before placing on the scale.

With the unopened can a 794g container should weigh 880-900g.

My grandmother's generation would have been instantly throwing cans at the grocer.

That weight is what should be inside the can. It shouldn’t include the weight of packaging. The fraud is even bigger than what is stated. This sure messes up recipes too!

So not only does Walmart prop up their stock value with SNAP and EBT, their fingers on the scales, too. We need more prisons.

Watch this👇guy on YouTube for even more on the way stores are stealing from you! Rossen Reports are eye-opening!

Something is off look at how she’s picking up the can. Her finger is over the lid. 🧐

So that video is BS because a 796 gram can is not 12 ounces. It’s 28 oz

That can is labelled 1Lb 12oz or 794g. These are weights, not fluid oz or anything similar. This is either fraud or incorrect labelling. Either way it's totally wrong. I see a lawsuit in Walmart's future, because this is not an isolated occurrence.

God sees them.

It’s a @Walmart thing. Likely why we never shop there!! Did a quick sample of non-Walmart products and they seem to be on-target. They’re taking the whole “Save Money. Live Better.” slogan to a whole other level. Live better by eating less…definitely not saving money for the consumer though!!

This is one of the reasons why conventional US measures are confusing. The word ounce is used into very different ways. An ounce by weight and an ounce by volume. When it comes to liquids, they are close but when it comes to something like chopped tomatoes, they can be pretty far off. The label should say by weight or by volume to avoid confusion. On the other hand grams and other metric measures, don’t have double meanings. But you have measured by grams not ounces and even when you remove the weight of the can, you can see that it is mislabeled unless your scale is not accurate. You can test the accuracy by weighing US nickels. They weigh 5 g each.

Fk. Now I have to weigh cans?

@US_FDA seems like this is your jurisdiction - right?

That’s what happens when you remove regulations and cut funding for inspections. Unfettered capitalism will always crush you!!

My impression is that these were volume measurements and not weight, especially true for cans, and other wet measures. Weights would apply to other items like meat, produce, grains. Of course I’m stating this in GENERAL TERMS for the cognitive dissonant

So is it by weight or volume? IMm pretty sure it’s by volume. Grams and ounces aren’t weighed.

The label says: 1-lb 12-oz, which would be 28 ounces which equals 794 grams. If her scale says 444 grams, then something is off.

And all while the price has skyrocketed

@Walmart Between your meat packaging and now your store brand canned goods, I now have a problem. I don't buy meat but I do buy hard goods and canned goods but I won't anymore until you correct this. You just lost $200/month from my household alone. 🖕🐍

Where aren’t we being robbed blind?! 🤷♀️

I’d never eat Great Value

@TimcastNews @Timcast @scrowder @KenPaxtonTX This is a huge story that would be worth investigating further. I see many of these videos from folks weighing products from Walmart and they weigh considerably less than advertised.

And to think Subway was sued for their footlong subs not being 12" in length

Sounds like that common core math going on . Learing center?

It's a math error. The label says it's 12 ounces. Convert that to grams and it is 341. Someone doesn't know how to convert ounces to grams.

The grams on the label are a VOLUME, not weight.

Absolutely the canning process was messed up. Should call the company and give them all the info

I believe Walmart makes mistakes when packing meat, but not when packing cans. That doesn’t make sense.
