I was invited to the United Nations to talk about Iran, especially about athletes and the current situation in Iran. I spoke to more than 4,000 students from around the world. I told them about Iran and about all the limitations that women and girls face there. I talked about the courage of students in Iran and about a regime that kills students. I told them that in my country the new generation is changing everything, but they are paying for it with their lives. While I was speaking, my mind was constantly thinking about Nika, Sarina, Raha, Abolfazl, Kian and the many students who were killed. I was just trying to control myself so I wouldn’t start crying. I also told them how meaningful it is that students from different countries, at such a young age, have the opportunity to come to New York and sit together at the United Nations, meet each other, learn together, and also enjoy many cultural and recreational programs. I told them the stories of Arnika and Rebin & … After the event, the organizers told me it was the first time they had seen students listening so carefully and with so much attention. Some of the students were even crying. I told them that one day, when Iran is free, we will organize an event like this in Iran with students from all over the world, and we will host them there. Some of them told me, “When that day comes, we will bring flowers for the students who were killed and we will honor their memory.”💔 I had the honor of meeting Vladyslav Heraskevych OLY, the Ukrainian Olympic champion, who chose not to remain silent and used his platform as an athlete to be a voice for the people of his country. This is a final year student project at Eindhoven University of Technology I saw today. This is a 100% solar powered car that works! From my further inquiry, I learnt that final year students projects are done in groups of 5. So it’s highly collaborative. In coming months, when you will start seeing this type of cars everywhere, just know that it was invented by students in a university. Universities are the heart of every society. Their innovations move the society forward. Everyone comes with intentions to contribute positively. Nigerian students are busy chasing GPA because that’s what our society exposes them do. Visionless education. We need to give Nigerian students the right environment and support to become the best of who they truly are.

I want to speak directly to San Francisco’s public-school parents and our students. I know many of you are worried about the possibility of a teacher strike that could temporarily close schools—and I want you to hear this clearly from me: our kids come first. As mayor, even though I don’t oversee our school district, I’m deeply committed to making sure our kids get a world-class education—with safe public schools where kids can learn and educators are well supported. It is crucial that our schools remain open. Every day in the classroom matters. I have been in regular contact with both the school district and the teachers union, and I am urging them to keep talking so kids can keep learning. Our working parents can’t afford to stay home if schools are closed. Our special needs students can’t afford to lose access to vital services that help them succeed. Schools are the foundation that makes daily life possible and helps every family in San Francisco thrive. I am also actively working with city departments to ensure we have options for our students in the event that classrooms do close. But I want to make one thing clear—what is best for our students is for the adults to continue discussions at the table so we can keep kids in the classroom. I will continue pushing for solutions that keep our schools open and our students learning. San Francisco’s families deserve nothing less.

Today, history was made at Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro. As Visitor to the University, I inaugurated multiple projects ahead of the maiden Convocation Ceremony. The projects commissioned include: •College of Medical Sciences Building; •Faculty Building Complex; •Science Laboratory Complex; •Pa James Odhokpa Izomor Engineering Workshop, donated by Engr. Godwin Odhokpa Izomor; •Female Students’ Hostel Complex; •Male Students’ Hostel Complex. As a government, we are proud to be building educational institutions that are dynamic, innovative and world-class. In my address, I made it clear that I am satisfied with what the Governing Council and Management of the University have been able to achieve. I encouraged other Vice-Chancellors to emulate Prof. J. S. Oboreh. I assured the graduating students that I am proud of them and urged them to be good ambassadors of the school and to continue to work hard. I charged them to embrace change, remain flexible, and never settle for less. At the ceremony, I specially thanked Engr. Godwin Odhokpa Izomor for donating the Pa James Odhokpa Izomor Engineering Workshop to SDU. It was a pleasure to reward the Best Graduating Student and other First Class graduates with cash rewards. Immediately after the Jacob/Anthropic tweet thread went viral, when it was at around 2m impressions, I screen recorded the first subtweeters as the diffusion/ propagation of the visit was obviously sync’d. I was certain, and said so at the time that the tweets were very highly suspect and bs. To do some light forensics, these days, as X cut off a lot of the tools/API I knew I had to catch the data in real time. I have , thru a shop I’m an investor in, the full x firehose, but whatever. Anyhoo, with this stuff it’s called ‘Graph Neural Networks’ = GNN It’s a graph of nodes that operate on graphs where nodes are connected by edges. A. Node (or a vertice) is a a network of users, the subtweeters B. edges are the relationships/interactions between them This is ‘neighborhood aggregation’ What you’re looking for, in the way I simplistically did it sans tools, is to look thru thr assorted influencers and subtweeters and see if their engagement is abnormal / too high And then also look for those accounts use of bots and inauthentic behavior Anyhoo

Last new year’s I was with my family and my best friends celebrating in one of the oldest and most beautiful hotels in Gaza- Al Mathaf. The place was destroyed, and some of the people are gone forever. I pray that this year we see light, that this year we see justice, that this year we see peace. I hope I can hug my mother soon, be back with the rest of my family and friends in Gaza… I hope that this nightmare ends and I really hope that I’ll still find some strength within me to keep going. May everyone of you have a happy, and blessed year… May Palestine be free very soon!

A dozen students in a construction class at Warner High School have completed a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home, which is now for sale. The school district is accepting sealed bids for the home at 1003 E 5th Avenue in Warner, with a minimum bid of $210,000. The bids will be opened on May 15th. Teacher Ira Jackson returned to the classroom after retiring to teach the hands-on work. “The goal of the program is to produce students who can read a tape measure and understand the basics of carpentry and building, and move on from there,” he said. Several students already have job offers after working alongside licensed trades workers during construction. Ethan Atkerson, a Warner High School senior, said he helped with cabinetry, guttering and lighting, and is certain he’ll pursue a career in construction. “I’ve loved doing every part of this,: he said. “It’s all been enjoyable to me. I like being able to work with my hands, and this is something that I can work with my hands and look at the work and think, I did that, I’m proud of that.” Every high school in America should be doing this!

Today, students from DawsonFamilyOfFaith in Homewood blew me away with their performance of “America the Beautiful.” After their performance, as I looked out at the Capitol during this historic year celebrating America’s 250th birthday, I shared with them that they are why I ran for the Senate. Each and every day, I’m proud to give it my all to fight for our next generation. What an honor to serve our great state.

Marc Andreessen’s advice to college students interested in startups “If I’m 22 again, I think what I do is I go try to find the company in the Valley that’s growing the fastest, has a really good culture, and a really good foundation for training. An example of that would be an Airbnb, but there are many others. I would go plant myself at a company where I can really learn. I spend my time working my butt off so that I can establish a good reputation so that when people reference check me, I reference check well. But I also spend that time thinking, and really critically, I spend that time building my network and finding people I know I want to work with down the road. And then I either come up with an idea or I don’t.” Mark also gives advice for people just enrolling in college: “If I was 18 and going to college right now, I would do computer science again in a heartbeat. And then I would either focus on: #1 distributed systems and the broad domain of cryptocurrency; #2 AI & machine learning; or #3 intersection of biology and computer science—so genomics and synthetic biology. Personally I would do one of those three areas, and the hard part for me would be picking between them because I think all three of those are going to have transformative work happen in the next 20 years. This is NOT SOMETHING that will be excused by your words. Science is a story untold. Science NEEDS to be challenged and questioned. There are no right or wrong answers in science. #PROVEMEWRONG IS SCIENCE. Science guides medicine but should NEVER DICTATE MEDICINE. The practice of Medicine takes courage and is very much an art where innovations happen. To discourage that art, those innovations by a narrative pushing the price of a stock is to kill Medicine and hope. NO I DO NOT ACCEPT YOUR APOLOGY. Words are lame… ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

The University as a Joke: My UNIABUJA UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA Experience When the Students’ Union Government of the University of Abuja, led by Comrade Yusuf Tobi Jamiu, invited me for an interactive session with students, I was skeptical. Given the recent decline in the courage and independence of students’ unions across Nigeria, I didn’t expect much. Still, I decided to give it a try. I came straight from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to the University. An advance team already on the ground hinted that something was off; they couldn’t locate the Students’ Union President on time, and the hall reserved for the event looked deserted. Soon after, one of them informed me that the university authorities had cancelled the program. Not long after, Comrade Jamiu himself reached out to say the event would still hold. So, I headed to the university gate. There, I was stopped by campus security, who bluntly told me the management had declared my visit “unacceptable.” They claimed the Students’ Union had no permission to host me on campus. I alighted from the vehicle and sat on a dilapidated chair by the gate, refusing to leave immediately a silent protest. As I sat there, I witnessed a scene that summed up the death of our university system, a female student was barred from entering the campus for “improper dressing.” When I asked if the university bought clothes for its students, the confused security men eventually allowed her in, perhaps to avoid a scene. Moments later, Comrade Jamiu arrived to apologise, visibly helpless. I couldn’t help but wonder whether he had been elected to lead or to kneel, to represent the students or to appease the school authorities. After a brief conversation, I left saddened but not surprised. What I saw at the University of Abuja was not an institution of learning, but a graveyard of courage and ideas. Our universities are dying — not for lack of resources, but for lack of integrity, independence, and freedom. Nigerian universities are dead. What remains is the struggle to resurrect them.
