Antarctica is not just another planet on Earth. It is the planet’s cold engine. A world where ice presses the Earth’s crust downward under unimaginable weight, where winds can knock a person off their feet.

🚨🇷🇺 LAKE BAIKAL: THE ICE-LOCKED ALIEN PLANET HIDING IN SIBERIA For 3 months a year, Lake Baikal freezes so hard you can drive a truck across it: and still see 130 feet straight down through glass-clear ice. This lake holds 20% of all the unfrozen freshwater on Earth. Not in Russia. Not in Asia. Earth. It's over a mile deep, older than the Himalayas, and home to creatures that live literally nowhere else. Including a freshwater seal. Scientists think it might be one of the few lakes on the planet where life could've evolved twice. Source: National Geographic

RECALL: In 1994 Col. Fletcher Prouty, the Chief of Special Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President JFK, explains how oil is not a fossil fuel. It is extracted at around 30,000 feet on average below the earth. No fossil fuels have been found below 16,000 feet. Oil is in fact the second most prevalent liquid on Earth! Oil is a natural product of planet Earth through the high-temperature, high-pressure continuous reaction between calcium carbonate and iron oxide, two of the most abundant compounds making up the Earth’s crust. The oil and gas companies have commoditized oil, caused scarcity and volatility and then manipulated market prices to generate trillions in profits! Why did YouTube remove this video?

Elon Musk: You can transform Mars into an Earth-like planet, just warm it up. There’s a fast way and a slow way. The fast way is to drop thermonuclear weapons over the poles Mars is cold and hostile because it lacks a thick atmosphere. To make it more Earth-like, the first requirement is simple in theory: warm the planet. If enough heat is added, frozen carbon dioxide at the poles could sublimate into the atmosphere, increasing pressure and strengthening the greenhouse effect. This could trigger a feedback loop where warming releases more gas, leading to further warming.

"Controlling the temperature is a matter of us, not a matter of the Earth." Imagine an Earth with temperatures around 10°C higher than today, far less ice, no deserts, and vegetation covering almost everywhere. It sounds like a thriving planet. But it may not be a world where humans can thrive. During the 2026 China Deep Dive program, Dai Hancheng 戴瀚程, Associate Professor at the PKU School of Environmental Science and Engineering, shared this striking perspective with US college students during a PKU Masterclass, using ancient climate records to show how resilient Earth can be and how vulnerable human civilization is. The Earth may be fine. Our future is the real question.

Searching for life beyond Earth isn’t just about the planet we hope to find life on, it’s about that planet’s star too. Starlight can change a planet’s atmosphere and even mimic signs of life. More from NASA Goddard's Giada Arney:

BREAKING: Zuckerberg just described the near-future of computing, and it has nothing to do with screens. His call: within 5 years, every person on Earth has a personal AI that knows their life, understands their goals, and does the work for them. Not a chatbot. Not a search box. An agent that is deeply, intimately embedded in how you live. When the person building the social layer for 3 billion people says this is where we're going, it's not a prediction. It's a roadmap. Is the personal AI agent the most valuable product anyone can build right now?

West Antarctica sits on top of a volcanic rift. Thwaites and Pine Island, Antarctica's two fastest thinning glaciers, sit directly above strong geothermal anomalies. The glaciers are being melted from below, not above, and atmospheric data backs this up. A recent study shows central/west Antarctica has cooled around 1C per decade over the past 20 years. Bird Station, the only long-running record on the ice sheet, shows the trend. The surface is cooling, the base is heating, and melt is concentrated where the crust is hottest. Public messaging insists CO2 is melting Antarctica, but the air is cooling, with the only real melt restricted to the west, to regions sitting atop a hot volcanic rift.
