This guy is the biggest bullshiter and everything he says is 100% about manipulating Anthropic valuation. So all these things that he "anticipates" or "predicts" are just part of the valuation-increasing narrative.

Increasingly I wonder if this guy actually understands anything about SaaS at all. Yes, MVPs are basically free to build now. The 98% of non devs *do not* want to maintain software. Their employers don’t want to do it, either. There will continue to be a WTP for that service.
I'm the proof. 49, no coding background, building and shipping products with AI tools. The barrier isn't money anymore. It's knowing what to build and having the discipline to ship.

He's right, but like most tech CEOs his timelines are wrong.
I’d like to know how we can deal with it. How does the father of four, who spent 20 years becoming a principal SWE, who has kids in college and a mortgage and a wife with chronic illness… how does that guy “deal with” having zero economic value? How do we as a society “deal with” the economic impact of those guys having no economic function? These broligarchs blithely talk about this with hand waves and “I thinks”. With all due respect, that’s not good enough. So far I’ve not seen anyone actually offer solutions. We are not planning. What we are doing is what we always do; we will break things. But this time we are breaking the entire economy.

He has been making one and the same claim for the past 24+ months, selling tokens to vibecoder for money, and simultaneously having 50+ open software engineering positions at Antrophic. All the while 99.9% of his customers have built nothing and the rest have less than 10 users.

“Cheap or free” while the bank rollers of the chronically loss-leading frontier model providers keep pouring money in. It’s not really cheap/free is it, you build software using a $200/month subscription, that’s actually costing “someone else” $2000/month. When that finally doesn’t work anymore, what will the cost of software dev be then? That statement is a house of cards.
Software will become essentially free. Whats gonna get expensive is the data. Data is gonna be the next base layer for the software with polymorphic backends and frontends. We are already seeing that with things like agentic OS

Free as in beer or free as in freedom?
AI will be dime a dozen. It will be like electricity, or gasoline. Once all AIs achieve human level intelligence, all AIs will be able to do all human jobs, just as electricity can run every equipment. The real winners will be countries with the right political system. Everyone will have to own a big enough stock portfolio to be able to live off the normal returns of the stock market. Only authoritarian China has the political system for wealth distribution.
Coding with LLM is like drawing with intermittent dots. Each prompt is a dot which is a projection of your understanding on you Biological Neural Network. You still need to understand what you are drawing and what is drawn in the high dimensional space.

I just want this bubble to explode so that we can see what we really have and how much the inference actually costs. there is no doubt that llms are astonishing and capable of lots of things but we just need it to be normalized and came with the actual costs. (non-subsidized)
Unless you wanna devlop a systems level application, with sophisticated code and technology, it's hard for LLMs to replicate that, LLMs tend to produce an "average" output, due to their training techniques.

Dario Amodei’s fear-mongering isn’t "vision"—it’s a survival tactic. Healthy giants like Databricks don't rush to IPO because they have cash, resources, and thriving secondary markets. Anthropic is crying wolf because their burn rate is unsustainable and they need a liquidity event before software "free" (as Dario claims). Irony is, if software becomes free and switching costs stay at zero, what’s Claude’s moat? Codex is even better product; Gemini has more ecosystem integration and best pricing. Jobs aren't disappearing; they’re shifting. The only thing disappearing fast is Anthropic's runway. 📉

To create software today the math only really works out if it's gonna be used at least a million times or something. Maybe it's 10,000 times or whatever. My point is if you wanna go build a product today, you need a whole team of engineers. Engineers are expensive. You need that software to be used enough times to create enough value for that to be worth it. But there are so many things out there which are very specific things that only need to be used a few times, or even only once. There’s all of these things that could be done with software. It just obviously doesn't make sense to hire a whole team of people to go make you that piece of software, which you're gonna use one time and never again. We're gonna get to a point where you are just giving your instructions to your agent, and the agent is gonna figure out, okay, I'm gonna write this code that's gonna go do this. I'm gonna put a script that automates this part etc. and that's what's gonna allow [single use software]. What [this is all about] is really just how you control your computer and how you get it to do what you wanna go do. You’ll wake up in the morning and you’ll talk to your agent about it.
