What we are seeking is a return to a rules-based order that eliminates the hypocrisies — when too often in the West, we’ve looked the other way for inconvenient populations, whether it is: •Kidnapping a foreign head of state. •Threatening our allies by talking about colonizing Greenland. •Looking the other way during a genocide. Hypocrisies are vulnerabilities, and they threaten democracies globally. So I think many of us are here to say: We are here, and we are ready for the next chapter — not to have the world turn toward isolation, but to deepen our partnerships with a greater commitment to integrity and to our values.

This is really about our humanity and strategic interests. It’s both the same thing — that a war with Iran, and global war, is just not what Americans want, and I don’t think that it’s what the majority of people around the world want.
