APD announced that they arrested 112 people during a three-week, zero tolerance operation along the Central Avenue corridor. APD reported that their GANG unit, FAST unit, and their Narcotics units conducted a proactive operation with the assistance of Field Services Bureau Proactive Response Teams (PRT). During the operation, officers... arrested 112 people, cleared 106 felony warrants and 38 misdemeanor warrants. The operation focused on out in the open (plain sight) drug use, drug trafficking, active warrants and maintained a high visibility presence along the Central Avenue corridor. During the operation, the narcotics unit focused on targeting drug trafficking along the east Central corridor. Detectives highlighted the arrest of Kyle Kamm for trafficking a controlled substance. Through the investigation, it was learned that Kamm was armed with a 9mm handgun during multiple drug transactions. This arrest resulted in the following: Approximately 500 fentanyl pills 9mm handgun Ammunition Drug trafficking paraphernalia Felony charges APD says that this specific case highlights the potential violence that can occur during drug transactions where a firearm is present. APD went on to say that there has been a decrease citywide in aggravated assaults and shootings, primarily through the Central Avenue Corridor. For the first time in recent years, the Southeast area command has seen a 9% decrease in aggravated assaults and shootings. During their operation, Southwest PRT also assisted in the apprehension of Charles Madrid, the suspect involved in the fatal stabbing that occurred this past week on a bus. As part of their ongoing efforts to combat violent crime along the Central corridor, APD implemented a second swing shift PRT team. It has been created specifically for the violent southeast area command. APD believes that their re-allocation of police resources and specialty units along Central Avenue during different times of the day, including evenings and nights, are a contributing factor to the decrease in violence and proactive results. On April 20, at approximately 1:30 a.m., OPD Crime Center detectives were monitoring the area of Orange Avenue and Central Boulevard when they observed a physical altercation occur outside Thrive Cocktail Lounge & Eatery, located at 13 South Orange Avenue. During the fight, detectives observed a handgun fall from the suspect’s pants. The suspect picked up the weapon and put it back in his pants. Crime Center immediately alerted nearby officers to respond. As officers were responding, the suspect pulled out the handgun and fired a single round into the air. Responding officers gave multiple commands for the suspect to drop the weapon. The suspect refused the commands. In response, officers fired their firearms striking the individual. The suspect was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC), where he was later pronounced deceased. The suspect had three prior misdemeanor arrests, all drug-related. The officers involved were not injured and will be on paid administrative leave. As with all officer involved shootings, FDLE will conduct an independent review of the incident, that will be turned over to the State Attorney’s office. On Aug. 22, Polk County, Fla., Sheriff Grady Judd announced the arrest of Nathaniel “Nate” Donald, as part of an operation called Capital City Crack Down. Police claim Donald is a local drug kingpin who distributed weed, crack cocaine, Fentanyl and MDMA in the South Florida area. During a search of the vehicle, Deputies located an illegally possessed firearm, narcotics, and a significant amount of cash. The suspect, 36-year-old Luis Garay, was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on seven new felony charges. Our Gang Suppression Unit focuses on identifying and targeting violent offenders, removing illegal guns from the street, and making arrests that directly impact public safety. As one of the last full-time gang units in California, their work is a key part of our enforcement efforts. Under the County’s proposed budget cuts, this unit would no longer exist. Crystal Lawson, 32, was hired in 2022 as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice before being terminated from that role for a battery charge later that year. Although Lawson was fired, her access to the court database was not cut off. Between January and May 2026, Lawson used the database 106 times to search for active criminals being investigated for drug trafficking. In continuation of the agency's clean up enforcement operation to rid the State of criminal elements, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce set out at about 0020hrs on 10th January, 2026, and embarked on its ongoing clean up enforcement operation on the Mainland area of the State. The duo were arrested with the assistance of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on May 25, 2024, at Ibiye, along the Lagos-Badagry expressway, as they attempted to cross the land border to deliver the consignment to Ghana. According to NDLEA's Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the husband and wife were found with 42 blocks of cocaine weighing 47.5 kilograms. A subsequent raid on their residence in Agbara, Ogun State, uncovered an additional eight blocks of cocaine weighing 10 kilograms, bringing the total seizure to 57.5 kilograms. The statement reads: "A cocaine trafficking cartel headed by a couple: Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinka Toheebat Dauda has been smashed in Lagos and Ogun States by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with multi-billion-naira worth of the illicit drug recovered in two major operations following the arrest of the kingpin and his queen in one of the intelligence-led raids. "The duo were arrested on Saturday 25th May 2024 by operatives of a special operation unit in NDLEA with the support of the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States at Ibiye, along Lagos-Badagry expressway while attempting to cross the land border to deliver the consignment in Ghana. The drive followed a series of murders linked to disputes between rival groups in the city. Kannan was hacked to death in Besant Nagar in a revenge attack, while supporting actor Pradeep Raj was murdered in Thiruvottiyur following a dispute over a loan. The investigation into Pradeep Raj’s murder also led senior police officers to examine the role of a police inspector in the events preceding the killing. Police said the drive covered people listed in A+, A and B categories of the police history sheets, along with C-category offenders. The operation was aimed at preventing further violence by monitoring and taking action against people with criminal records. Police said inquiries were being conducted against those apprehended and further legal action would be taken based on their involvement in criminal activities. A British woman has narrated how her daughter who flew out for a vacation in Jamaica with her friend is currently facing six years imprisonment for alleged drug trafficking. Narrating the incident, she revealed that despite warning the girls repeatedly not to attempt bringing anything back to the UK, their hosts in Jamaica convinced them to bring some sneakers along with them.
