I think seawater did something… strange to my iPhone 17 Pro Max charging port. Now when I plug in the charger and turn on the switch at the same time, it shows charging a bit late compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max and 15 Pro Max. Today I also noticed it does not charge at all with a 25W charger, but it works with 45W and 65W chargers. Should I go to the Apple Store and replace the charging port, or just use the chargers that work? Will this problem get worse over time?

iOS 26.4 is officially a disaster... 💀 I’ve had my iPhone 17 Pro Max in a bootloop all night until the battery completely died. Even after a full discharge, a hard reset did absolutely nothing. I even tried plugging it into iTunes to see if I could bring it back to life, but it’s still completely unresponsive. 18.4GB for a brick. WTF Apple? 😭 #iOS26 #Apple #iPhone17ProMax #TechFail

Quick update from Clark LeClair Stadium Looks like they are tryin to blow the snow/ice off of the tarp for starters. Parking lot still has a lot of ice… but I’d imagine that will melt pretty well There is probably a 1-2” layer of ice on top of the entire field and surrounding ground. The groundscrew has their work cut out for them…. But nobody better in the business to tackle it

Today’s TikTok tip : Setting up your phone I’ll continue from where I stoped yesterday When setting up a new phone , when you get to the screen where you are asked to enter your Apple ID Don’t ever enter an Apple ID that has been used to formerly create an account before , you are likely to get banned if you create TikTok from it Tap on create a new Apple ID , if it proceeds to the next screen , you are safe , if it does not , you will get a message that you can’t create Apple ID, this happens when you have used the phone to create too many Apple ID Just leave the phone for a month and come back to it or get a new phone For the first name and last name , i use the name of my account that I want to name Also when creating passwords , don’t use the password that consist of any of the names you added , it won’t work, I don’t know why After that enter your email address, don’t use a spam email or an email with + somerhing , Apple knows how to catch this well, you want to use a fresh email address , for this I use some of the emails I have already instead , we will use this email to verify the phone later Now to the phone number side , for numbers, purchase as from juicysms and smspva for Apple number purchase , tried some other ones before but you just need a disposable number for this to verify that Apple account that’s all. My initial problem with Liquid Glass was that it was terrible for accessibility despite how beautiful it looks it certain places. There is literally only one way to solve this readability issue – make the glass frosted/opaque. And from the public backlash that Apple received it was pretty obvious that it was a matter of time before they made this change. The problem now is that when you make it opaque, it barely looks any different from iOS 18, yet it keeps eating up resources and draining your battery. 3 betas in, and I still feel like this design direction was a big mistake.

Washed the iPhone 17 Pro Max USB-C port with fresh water to flush out salt residue. Hopefully this fixes the minor charging disconnect issue. I had submerged the iPhone 17 Pro Max in seawater to capture aquatic life and later forced Emergency Override for charging after it kept showing a warning even after 30 hours. After that, PD charging stopped working, while MagSafe and USB-C power bank charging worked fine. After 2–3 days, PD charging started working again, but it still disconnects occasionally and needs to be reinserted. Let’s see if flushing out the salt residue fixes it.

My wife bought a brand new iPhone at the Apple store located at Jakande, Lekki Phase 1,Lagos last September. We decided to trade it in for a new one today at the Apple Store located at Westfield Stratford City Arcade (London) a few minutes ago Only God did not let them call the police on us The attendant scanned the IPhone and declared that it had been reported as stolen. Stolen from where? It was not a used iPhone It was new, purchased from an approved Apple Store and we have all the receipts intact The attendant saw our indignation and went ahead to consult with her superiors They scanned again and they declared that it was reported “missing”. They adjusted their language from stolen to missing and told us it has zero swap value. I was not shocked at all even though I should be. Nigerians like cutting corners for unhealthy gains and they always believe this is good business for them as long as they were able to make a buck. Somehow we were able to walk out of that Apple Store without any drama but I remember telling my wife that we would have had a lot of explaining to do if they had a policy that required that they must report such incidents to the police. Nigerian business people must try to do better than this There is something called integrity, it has a higher value than the dirty gains they think they are getting by playing dirty. I have always insisted on buying things in Nigeria because it helps the economy but I can see the reason many prefer to shop abroad. We must do better than this as a people. -GSW-

They never touch the screen once which DOES in fact has a huge impact on battery life Every single time you touch your phones screen, it has to ramp up the processor to not just calculate the touch input, it hast to calculate predictably since you may not just be touching, but swiping. And it should continue scrolling once you lift your finger because that makes it feel more natural. And this needs power. Drains power. So a more important touchscreen and software can make a huge difference in battery life. And most battery tests just ignore that entirely. That's why some tests show vastly different results

Folks have asked me for a side by side comparison the Apple eMate 300 and the AlohaSmart 3000. Well you can see they were conceived by some of the same team at Apple. They are remarkably alike. In public I get a lot of “in the know” folks ask if that is the eMate. The build quality is better of course in the eMate. But it is also 2.5 time heaver and it is hard on my hacked battery. I do carry around the eMate and use it regularly but it is mostly in my Library for contemporaneous notes. The AlphaSmart 3000 I carry a lot. Mostly in the woods. It is lighter, only 3 AA batteries and easier screen in almost all settings. The 3000 has a slightly bigger keyboard but slightly worse travel. The AlphaSmart Neo2 has a better keyboard than both. So here is the comparison…

Sitting here watching my Cybertruck charge with the mountains of Utah in the background, it hit me again… I really believe this is the most beautiful Tesla ever made. Every angle is different. It looks futuristic without trying too hard, and it fits just as well in the middle of a city as it does surrounded by nature like this. What makes this truck special is so much more than just the stainless steel or design. For me it’s how capable and practical it is. Long road trips, hauling gear, camping, tough weather, and FSD… it feels like THE one vehicle built to do almost everything. I’ve owned and driven many Teslas over the years, and every one has been amazing in their own unique way, but the Cybertruck is the first one that genuinely makes me stop and look back every time I park it. Driving across the U.S. in this beast has only reinforced that feeling. And to me, the Cybertruck is the best vehicle Tesla has ever built.
