I think you'll be disappointed replacing a 13 inch tablet with a 7.6 inch DUO screen. You're basically replacing a superior phone and superior tablet with a device that's inferior at both.

Yes, but the iPad Pro + keyboard case is massive. It's not something you want to carry with you on vacation. This one, plus a foldable keyboard (if you need it), is perfect.

I dont think it will be a success, just like you never see people using the samsung folding phones. But I'm not sure the price point is that far off, Samsung had that same price point on their folding phones back in 2019. Accounting for inflation Apple's actually cheaper.

Exactly. The only people willing to carry around a product like that are power users with specific jobs that require a larger screen. But even then, doing real work requires sitting down at a PC.

Yeah, the biggest travesty here is the aspect ratio of the screen. 4:3 on a smartphone seems odd when most content is formatted for 16:9.

Downsides - heavy item to carry around when you’re gonna use it unfolded maybe 20% of the time. Privacy loss as others can more easily see what you’re doing on your phone. Gonna be a niche product

And the format. It’s large in the hands - Huawei and Samsung made theirs slimmer to carry more easily. The trifold is a better ipad replacement. Apple is very late to this and has a strange product offering 🤷‍♂️

A smartphone is something people can’t live without these days, so you can’t compare it to a Vision Pro (a gadget used to develop tech). The pricing is not far from the competition, but they deliver a better product finish. The only thing missing on the Fold is Face ID & cameras

I think it will sell ok, long term probably takes a generation or two to catch on, especially if they figure out how to bring the price down some.

I was talking to a sales guy at a major retailer today because I need to use a device rental service meant for companies. He said they have an unprecedented amount of people asking for the service because of the foldable iPhone announcement. Never underestimate the sheep.

The price point is the most important thing that consumers are looking for at this point. If they’re gonna make the jump it’s either gotta hit the right price point or solve a problem. There is no problem to solve and the price is way too high. Apple just created another flop because they’re a bunch of stupid morons

The problem with Vision Pro was fuzzy purpose, not price. A foldable phone has a clear benefit: larger screen in pocket. Apple is following their premium strategy. Would you buy it at $1500?
