APPLE MIGHT HAVE JUST SOLVED THE MOST ANNOYING FOLDABLE PROBLEM. 👀🔥 Samsung foldable users know how easily their inner displays can scratch. But the iPhone Duo’s inner display reportedly survives fingernail pressure without visible scratches. No crease drama. Now potentially better scratch resistance too? If this holds up, what...

The iPhone Duo’s dreamlike transition animation. This is a level of elegance Samsung will never be able to surpass. I’d even tell Samsung this: you might as well give up on the foldable market. You don’t stand a chance anymore.

Apple says its biggest iPhone Duo secret wasn’t the foldable itself — it was the display. Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak says leaks revealed that the company was working on a foldable, allowing Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi to figure out the Duo’s unusual wide aspect ratio before Apple launched it. But Apple claims competitors didn’t know about its key display technology. The iPhone Duo uses a custom nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and make the fold crease less noticeable. Apple says it added extra security around the technology and kept it under wraps. That makes the Duo story more interesting than a simple “copycat” debate: Apple may have lost the surprise on the design — but it says the real innovation was still hidden.

Foldable iPhone Duo devices are reportedly breaking in large numbers, with displays failing along the hinge crease. Buyers in Japan, China, Australia, and other countries have reported the same issue. In some cases, the display reportedly fails while the phone is still on display in stores. The symptoms are identical: after just a few days of use, a black line appears across the screen.

The iPhone Duo might have just killed the need for an iPad mini. 💀 This side-by-side comparison says a lot. Why buy a new iPad mini with a 60Hz display when the iPhone Duo already gives you a massive foldable screen in your pocket?

Apple didn’t just join the foldable game. They closed it.iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8:• IP68 dust + water tight. Fold 8 is still IP48. Fine dust eats hinges. Apple sealed it.• A20 Pro on 2nm vs Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on 3nm. Sustained performance and thermals aren’t close.• 31 hours inner-screen video vs Samsung’s 26-27. Dual-cell battery + vapor chamber.• 50% in ~20 minutes. MagSafe built in. Fold 8 still needs a case for magnets.• Nano-texture inner display + under-display FaceTime cam. No punch-hole, way less glare, crease almost gone.• Same 7.6" inner screen, but iOS Split View, Flex Mode that actually holds an angle, and Apple Pencil coming to both panels. Samsung spent years making foldables. Apple showed up, made it thinner when open, more durable, faster, and software-complete on day one.The Fold 8 just became last year’s phone.#iPhoneDuo #AppleEvent

The iPhone Duo has me thinking about what makes a foldable phone great. I like the idea of having a larger screen without carrying a separate tablet, but the design has to be practical when folded, too. For me, the real test is how comfortable it feels to use every day, not just how impressive it looks opened up. Would you choose a foldable iPhone over a regular Pro Max.

Wait, is this an iPhone Duo glitch? 👀 Switching a video from the front display to the inner screen and then to Seated Mode seems to introduce a noticeable delay instead of happening instantly. For a foldable that promises a seamless experience, this definitely needs some polishing.

The concept of a wide-screen foldable smartphone can be traced back to a concept video Samsung showcased at CES 2013, 13 years ago. At the time, foldable phones were still a futuristic vision, far from becoming commercial products. Today, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, weighing just 201 grams and measuring only 4.5 mm when unfolded, is the lightest large foldable smartphone ever released by any brand. In many ways, it is beginning to resemble the futuristic device Samsung envisioned in that concept video more than a decade ago.

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Duo, their first folding iPhone. Looks like they've solved the center crease issue that many folding phone screens have. Probably won’t get it since the 18 Pro has better cameras and battery life, but it does look pretty sweet.

There are animations on the outer display, yet the same actions have no animations on the inner display. On the very same Galaxy Z Fold 8, simply switching screens gives you two completely inconsistent interaction experiences. If Samsung can’t even maintain a consistent experience on the same device, how can you expect it to deliver a truly consistent software experience across different Galaxy models?
