Will Passan ever stop carrying the dodgers water is the real question?

I’m ignoring any analysis of mlb and salary cap that doesn’t discuss tv revenue dogs have from mlb that is different from all other teams and how their yearly $700 million advantage gives them a huge competitive advantage over all other teams.

The problem is the $2 billion revenue sharing shelter the Dodgers received after filing for bankruptcy.

Having no salary cap (and floor) is the problem. Not specifically the Dodgers, they’re just the richest team that gets to take advantage of it.

Yes cheap owners are part of the problem. But both things can be true and just defending the Dodgers only makes it worse

Now talk about their tv revenue share

@JeffPassan unless you’ve seen team financial statements, shut up. Not every owner is liquid to the tune of $1bn and able to spend more by funding losses at the team level

Thanks for acknowledging that teams even if they did spend could not keep up with the dodgers. The issue is all players are going to the top bidder and there is no one that can out bid LA, NY, PHI so I don’t see how the dodgers still don’t operate the same

Sports media guys. I will say whatever you tell me to say no matter how fucking moronic it is for my paycheck. People used to have morals and care about their integrity and legacy. Now it’s just a bunch of losers seeing who can make a bigger idiot of themselves.

Come on @JeffPassan. Baseball is the only sport where you’re penalized for trying hard? How about, baseball is the only major sport without a salary cap!?!? They’re the only league that hasn’t figured it out. It’s not the Dodgers fault. It’s MLB and the owners fault.

Why would these teams spend more to lose? If I were a small market owner, I would spend. Salary cap is a MUST!!

It’s been the cheap owners for 100 years, the players had to take them to the Supreme Court for gods sakes just to get free agency

Why are we pretending every team can spend $300 million? If you are going to lose and half the teams lose, you should spend a lot. You should rebuild. The Yankees failed to land skubal.

The lack of understanding the actual issues by people who make their living to cover the game is astounding. It’s tough to tell if they are purposely deceitful or just that fucking dumb. You two sound like fucking morons.

He's always defending the Dodgers spending, he's as guilty as anyone in hyping up their farm system, which produces absolutely nothing for these acquiring teams, every single time.

It's funny he used Pittsburgh and KC as an example. Could he say the same regarding their NFL teams?

Baseball players get paid too much money. Billionaires have too much money. Going to a baseball game now costs too much money for the average fan. Adjustments are needed.
