That's how I was raised and I was very sensitive to adult disappointment. Much less afraid now. I think. Sometimes.

We are so afraid of mistakes, and areas where the penalties are so high, means we can't think creatively anymore

Nope, when my dad died, I realized I wasted too much time dwelling on mistakes, and it inhibited my creativity. Now I dont care, I give it my 100, and leave my creations behind. I had my experience with them, they are perfect to me.

Great advice on creativity. Fear of making a mistake get in the way of experimentation and spontaneity. As Jordan Peterson puts it you have to willing to be a fool to become a master. Something along those lines. When I am are learning creative writing or a song I will certainly make mistakes and look like a fool. But you have to get over that fear to get good and it and be willing to be embarrassed, feel shame, awkwardness, “cringe” as the kids say, to get good at it. It’s part of the learning process and unavoidable unless you let it stop you from moving forward to not feel bad about yourself. And when you put your work out there don’t expect positivity and grace from the audience if you can garner one. Be prepared for brutal criticism especially on social media. Expect the haters and treasure the ones who enjoy what you do.

Was privileged to get to see you @ the Balboa Theater/San Diego in April. Great show and your daughter's a hoot! I bought this very expense, very thin cotton T-Shirt. 😄

Never. I double-check my speling always.

The video ended with the your thoughts on humor and the close mode vs the open mode. Please elaborate.

Wise words John, sometimes my thoughts and feelings are expressed better by someone else . You’ve done that for me here. I’ll get my teenage kids to watch and listen. Thank you for posting it today 💙

I watched some of your old management training videos back in the day when I became a manager. They were both instructive and entertaining, and I got a lot from them. Thanks for all you do.

That was excellent 👍
