The video starts with manual scavenging. There is a specific legislation that was enacted in 2013, that prohibits manual scavenging. However, as of now, many of the districts across India have yet to declare themselves manual scavenging-free. I wonder how many districts in J&K?

In that, for the last 70 years, we have always asked the religion of the head of the household. We have always asked language. We have always asked caste category, SC, ST or others. The only and in the case of SC and ST, we also in the census record the exact caste that they belong to. The only thing we do not do so far is to record the caste for those who are not SC or ST. So, when we say caste census is going to take place, it means that what has always been done in the case of SC or ST will now also be done in the case of OBC and in the case of those who are neither SC, ST or OBC.
