Arkansas trooper performs a pit on the wrong car. Gets fired for his actions. Mind blowing how he mixed up these two cars. The chain of events began when a trooper clocked a white Buick Envista flying down the highway at 92 mph in a 60 mph zone. The... trooper initiated a standard traffic stop and pulled the SUV over to the shoulder. Upon approaching the driver, the trooper smelled what he believed to be marijuana and subsequently discovered the driver was operating with a suspended license. However, when instructed to step out of the vehicle, the driver refused, hit the gas, and fled the scene. The trooper rushed back to his patrol car to give chase, but in flow of highway traffic, he briefly lost visual contact with the suspect's white SUV. Moments later, as the trooper reentered the highway, he spotted a white GMC Yukon exiting the interstate at Exit 5. Believing this was the fleeing suspect making a desperate attempt to escape onto city streets, the trooper aggressively pursued the vehicle and executed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) / PIT maneuver to force the SUV to a spinning stop on the off-ramp. With his weapon drawn, the trooper approached the forced-stopped SUV and aggressively ordered the occupant out. But as a woman stepped out of the vehicle visibly shaken, the terrifying truth immediately set in: it wasn't the suspect. The trooper had completely misidentified the vehicle, pitting an innocent motorist while the actual suspect successfully got away. To his credit, the trooper immediately de-escalated, realized the gravity of his mistake, and apologized profusely on the scene. At least he owned up to his incompetence. Immediate Termination: The trooper was still within his probationary period, was placed on administrative duty and officially terminated within 72 hours. No Lawsuit Filed: Despite the immense trauma of the event, the female driver chose not to file a lawsuit. Arkansas State Police Director Colonel Mike Hagar publicly thanked her for handling the highly stressful situation "with grace." Her only request was for total public privacy. Vehicle Restitution: The state took full, immediate financial and legal responsibility on the scene to completely cover the property damage and ensure her vehicle was repaired or replaced. Suspect Arrested: The actual fleeing suspect turned himself into State Police headquarters two days later and was hit with multiple charges, including felony fleeing. This trooper was fresh out of training and in his probationary period, it still blows my mind on how you mix up two vehicles that are so incredibly different. What was his qualifier, both vehicles were white? Dude called the vehicle in when he pulled it over. I question the quality of his training he received. At the speeds the Honda was traveling and driving into oncoming traffic numerous times the driver of the Honda showed no regard for the safety of others or himself. I was concerned any impact with another vehicle would not only be fatal to the motorcycle operator but any other vehicle occupants involved or even pedestrians. Trooper observed the Honda traveling northbound on South Turner Street. As I slowed I positioned his vehicle so that it was plainly visible from a distance that was substantially greater for the operator to stop or maneuver around me. With my lights and sirens active, I blocked the northbound lane attempting to stop or slow the Honda and to ensure the safety of the pedestrian and vehicle traffic from a possible impact with the motorcycle. The driver of the Honda did not slow, stop, or maneuver around me into the southbound lanes; which was available. If the operator of the motorcycle was traveling at a reasonable speed and had control of the motorcycle he would have been able to maneuver around my patrol vehicle or stop. Due to the reckless driving of the Operator of the Honda, the Honda impacted the driver front of my patrol vehicle. The driver was instantly ejected from the bike and landed near the driver's side of my patrol vehicle in the grassy lawn. Sergeant Chad Hipps, Trooper First Class Matt Walker, Trooper Belt, Trooper Puryear, and I nearly converged on the suspect simultaneously. We immediately called for Emergency Medical Services. After placing the suspect in handcuffs, double-locking and checking them for tightness we rendered necessary medical aid to the suspect. The suspect was identified as Jimmy D. Townsend. Due to the injuries, he sustained, Springdale Fire Department transported him to the Washington Regional Medical Center. After being treated and cleared by medical staff transported Townsend to the Washington County Detention Center and released him to the custody of thedetention staff. #ArkansasStatePolice #HeadOn #trooper

Illegal alien tried to make a run for it, but he underestimated this trooper. Through all the chaos the trooper never lost his hat. On May 10, 2026, Arkansas State Police Trooper Tre Davis conducted a traffic stop on a silver Toyota Camry along Stagecoach Road in Little Rock, Arkansas, after observing the vehicle weaving across lanes. The driver, identified as Franklin Javier Hernandez, eventually pulled into a local Casey's gas station. Upon making contact, Trooper Davis noted clear signs of intoxication and requested identification. When Trooper Davis attempted to detain Hernandez and secure his hands, Hernandez physically resisted and broke free, initiating a foot pursuit across the gas station parking lot. An altercation ensued as Trooper Davis moved to apprehend him, Hernandez broke free and a foot pursuit was in play. While the trooper stumbled at first, it was not long before he caught back up and took Hernandez into custody. Upon returning to the squad car you could clearly see who was up to the challenge as the trooper made it back hat and all intact. Not quiet the same for Hernandez. Following the arrest, officers recovered physical evidence dropped in the parking lot during the chase, as well as items from inside the vehicle. A civilian ride-along passenger present in the Camry was interviewed by officers and confirmed to be completely uninvolved in the offense. “I was driving up 75, and saw the trooper in the turnout...checked my speed, oh I'm good. A few minutes later, I see a dog in the ditch by one of the signs for exit 20. She looked bad. I was in the left lane, heading to an appointment, and was torn. I decided I would go back southbound and risk a ticket by going to the turnout. I turned in and the trooper was still there! Yay! He rolled down his window and said "yep! I'm here" to which i told him about the dog and I didn't want a ticket, but if I could help that dog, it was fine by me. He just asked where the dog was and was on his way! I followed and we found her, still there, panting like she was fixing to die. That trooper dumped his jug out and fashioned a water bowl for her. Then poured a couple bottles of water. The dog was scared of him, but frozen in weakness. She sniffed the water, then realized this kindness was for her! She drank that water down in minutes! The trooper went and got her some more, plus a Little Debbie. She watched him warily the whole time. She sniffed his hand but was still wary. Next thing, he goes to his vehicle and gets a chair and an umbrella. He told me he will stay here until she trusts him, so he can get her to a shelter, or take her home.
