I built this onboarding before Claude Code or Codex existed. I made it open source on GitHub, so take it if you want.

Announcing the Open Model Series: a new series on open source AI models, with merve of Hugging Face. Hugging Face is the open model hub: it hosts model weights, datasets, evals, & demo apps, and maintains the open-source libraries (like transformers) used to run and train them. I think of it like GitHub, but for AI models. You can download open models and run them on your own machines. In this series we'll cover what open source and open weight models are, how they work, how to run them yourself, and why they're important. By the way - this video is edited entirely with Claude! I can make a tutorial on how I did it. If there's a question you want answered about open models, leave it in the comments. We will read them all. Episode 1 is out soon.

You can now fine-tune Llama 3 without writing a single line of code! We are moving at breakneck speed. I recorded a video to show you how to fine-tune any open-source model in a few minutes. I'm using a GPT capable of taking a problem and turning it into a fine-tuned model that will solve it. You don't have to write any code. You only need to explain to a GPT what problem you want to solve and tell it you want to use Llama 3. For example, "fine-tune Llama 3" or "deploy zephyr." It feels magic. The system will recommend a dataset and fine-tune the model for you. I'm using Monster API, a platform that specializes in making fine-tuning and deploying open-source models easy and fast. Their stack is well-optimized to maximize fine-tuning efficiency using techniques like Q-Lora and vLLM. They are behind the GPT. Here is what you need to do: 1. Create an account at 2. Load the GPT with the link below This is as simple as it gets. When you are done, you can click a button to deploy the model and start using it. I have 10,000 free credits for anyone using the code "SANTIAGO" in the dashboard. You can use these credits to access, fine-tune, and deploy these open-source models. You can also keep up with their latest updates, and get free credits and special offers on their Discord server:

Before Claude Fable 5 got banned, I turned all my fine-tuning research and experiments into a product: (A CLI for data generation to fine-tune AI models). Finetuner uses Codex 5.5 or Opus 4.8 as the orchestrator and Chinese models (DeepSeek v4 Pro, Kimi K2.7, MiMo v2.5, etc.) to generate dataset rows. This system is unique because these are not Python-script-paraphrased datasets. Each and every row is handcrafted by Chinese models based on the orchestrator model's instructions. Now anyone can generate datasets to fine-tune small language models (1B to 30B models). I achieved 10x lower costs and 5x better dataset quality. Releasing the product in a few days. (I'll open-source the skills.)

The open-source & open-weight frontier is 7 months behind the closed-model frontier. Let’s talk about it. Check out last week’s episode for the reasons why you might want to consider open-source & open-weight models. Welcome to the fourth episode of the Open Model Series with merve, Hugging Face AI/ML engineer & open-sourceress! We have been discussing open-source & open-weight AI: what it is, how it works, and how you can run them on your own compute. Please leave all your questions about open-source & open-weight AI in the comments! This is a super important topic that is novel to most people, and it can be challenging to grasp - so rest assured your questions are shared with many others!

New open source project: Easel, a macOS workspace for AI-assisted product design and frontend iteration powered by the Codex SDK. Think of it as "Claude Design for Codex." It brings together a local project library, design-system setup, Codex chat, and a live web preview with a point-and-click inspector. Set up your design system however you like. Import one from Figma , bring your own, or have the agent generate it as a design.md. Then use it to build prototypes and slide decks. Codex-first, with Claude and other AI providers and local models planned for future releases. OpenAI Developers

OpenWork (OpenWork (YC P26)) is the open source alternative to Claude Cowork. Roll out AI compliantly across your non-technical org at scale. Use your existing agents, deploy on-prem, and use any LLM provider you want. They already have 14k stars on GitHub with over 150k downloads. Congrats on the launch, Benjamin Shafii!

"Closed models are cheaper. The reason you need open models is that they give you control". - Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang "One of the things that people misunderstand about open models is this: yes, you can host them yourself, and you can build your own computer. But most people use computers in the cloud. Frankly, I think closed models are cheaper. If you do not build everything yourself, you avoid the significant cost and expertise required to train, fine-tune, maintain, guardrail, evaluate, and keep the model safe. You would also need to build or obtain the computers required to host it. So, there is nothing cheap about doing all of that yourself. The reason you need open models is that they give you control. You can adapt them for your own highly specialized use cases. I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about closed models versus open models. We felt it was important for people to understand that there is a place for both." ---- From "Bloomberg Podcasts" YouTube channel, (full video link in comment)

1/ Keep running claude -p on your Claude Code subscription after June 15. A 200-line bash wrapper pipes your prompt into the Claude Code session you already have open. The call rides your subscription, not the new Agent SDK credit bucket. Looks like claude -p. Runs on the plan you already pay for. How it works 👇

Tune Studio is an end-to-end platform for developing applications using Large Language Models. So far, I haven't seen any other platform like this one. You can do everything here: 1. You can curate your data. 2. Use the playground to play with different models and try your ideas. 3. Fine-tune an open-source model on your data. 4. Deploy the model when you are done. This is awesome for anyone building generative AI applications. You can use Tune Studio to work with any of the open-source models out there. They were one of the few companies to host Llama 2 and Llama 3 before anyone else. Here is a link to check it out: One of their main selling points is that Tune Studio scales! You don't have to worry about serving your model to lots of users. They also have built-in user management, authentication, on-prem support, user context management, and pretty much everything you need to build generative AI applications. Thanks to the Tune team for collaborating with me on this post. We are living through the best years of development tools for AI developers. The field is unstoppable.

Introducing watchmen. It writes the skill files your coding agents should already have from your own sessions, shared across Claude Code, Codex, and pi, so you stop paying tokens to re-explain what your agent learned last week. Local and open-source.

If you haven’t tried prediction markets on Coinbase 🛡️ yet, now is a great time. The team has been shipping like crazy, the product has improved 10x since launch and we have tons more on the way. If you’re a trader, my DMs are open. I would love to hear from you on how we can make it even better.

Weave is launching the number 1 prompt router in the world. It enables you to get 70% more efficient use of your tokens. We analyzed millions of prompts and found that the vast majority don't need a frontier model. Weave Router fixes that. It analyzes your prompt and routes it to the highest quality model with the lowest cost (across open and closed source models). This all happens in your current workflow on Claude, Cursor or Codex so you don't have to change a thing. Early customers have seen an ~70% reduction in costs without any slowdowns. Source code available.
