Taekwondo mom and daughter help cops nab armed robbers When two armed robbers entered a businessman’s bungalow in Begumpet on Thursday afternoon, the Taekwondo-trained woman and her daughter fought back despite being unarmed. Today, the two men are in police custody. Amita, trained in Taekwondo, a Korean martial arts and combat sport, recounted, "My attacker aimed the gun at me while I was unarmed. Despite this, I punched back. During the struggle, I fell, and he attempted to open fire on me. Fortunately, the gun jammed. I began shouting for help and attempted to remove his helmet." At the same time, Amita’s daughter rushed into the living room and attacked the man. The two robbers identified as Susheel Kumar and Premchandra from Uttar Pradesh were arrested by Hyderabad city police. According to the SAPS: "Police acted on intelligence which uncovered the whereabout of the suspects and when they approached a residence at Mambulu area, a shootout ensued between police and an unknown number of suspects. Three suspects were shot and fatally wounded during the shootout and they were found in possession of firearms." The men are linked to this brazen cash van robbery in Kranskop in April this year, where one robber was killed in the explosion. During the incident, the gunmen also fired shots at the local police station. More armed suspects - who were able to escape arrest this morning - are still being sought. A major incident unfolded this afternoon in Surrey's Whalley neighbourhood. Two people were stabbed, with one victim dying at the scene. The suspect was later shot by police & subsequently died in hospital. SPS say the incident began around 1 p.m. when officers responded to a report of an assault at a building in the 13300 block of Old Yale Rd. Police located two victims suffering from stab wounds, while the suspect had fled the scene. A short time later, police located the suspect nearby. A confrontation occurred, resulting in officers firing their service weapons. The suspect was seriously injured, transported to hospital, & later pronounced dead. IHIT is investigating the homicide, while IIO is reviewing the police actions.
