People energy bills around the country are skyrocketing in order to pay for these A.I. data centers Working people are already living paycheck-to-paycheck in some states off of wages as low as $7.25 an hour. Another federal minimum wage that congress also refuses to raise. They simply cannot afford another increase to their bill. While the American people are suffering, big tech continues to demand more. More data centers, energy, more data collection, more American jobs replaced by A.I., all on the feet of the American people to pay.

Today I introduced legislation to require that the minimum wage be a living wage. $25 an hour is what’s required for a full time worker to pay their bills, and we shouldn’t accept that full time work leaves people living in poverty.

The City of San Diego just passed a $25/hr minimum wage for some hotels, Sea World and Petco Park, but not for city workers. According to the City Council, employees at these businesses deserve a “living wage,” but what about workers at the other businesses? What about the workers at City Hall? The City acknowledged they can’t expand this to workers at City Hall because it’s too expensive. If the City is unwilling to subject themselves to their own policy, maybe it’s just bad policy.

But lowering the NI will cost them £500,000 and the new living wage will cost them £800,00" "So that's £1.3m out of his profits" "So he says three of his units are now not profitable, so he may need to close them" "So he will pay off 90 people" "Let's assume half of them will find a job somewhere else.. That's 45 people not paying tax, not paying NI, now on benefits.. That's not growth" "We want Labour to succeed, but there's nothing to encourage people with this budget"
