As a first step, we are launching NaijaCivicTech, an open source platform where Nigerian in tech curate and build tiny tools that solve specific Nigerian problems together this is not a startup, not a pitch deck, just working software in the open, built for Nigeria for ease. The platform is live. Go to to suggest a problem worth solving for community delibration, add an existing tool the community should know about, or just explore what is already in the pipeline.

The code is open from day one If you want to go deeper and contribute directly, everything is public and forkable at this will serve as the GitHub home for all projects we build together.

Here is what happens from here. We are keeping the suggestion window open until next week to give everyone time to drop their ideas and share existing tools the community should know about. We want to make sure we are not building something that already exists when we could be improving it instead. Once the window closes, we will go through everything submitted, review what already exists, and together decide on the first project to work on as a community. If you have a problem worth solving or know of a tool that deserves more attention, is where it goes. The pipeline is open and every submission counts toward what we build first.

Just dropped two suggestions on the site, a crowd-sourced security incident map (NaijaSecureMap) and a legal rights + escalation tool (KnowYourRights NG). Both problems hit different in Northern Nigeria. Let's build 🇳🇬

These are brilliant suggestions! NaijaSecureMap and KnowYourRights NG tackle real gaps. Excited to see the community pick these up.

I am open to jump on it

We made it to the X news headline

i like the focus on working software over pitch decks. open source tools for specific problems like power outage maps and road reports is a smart way to start.

@Paparazzi_opas Good initiative 👏🏾

This is great. But can you target all H1, h2 tags and remove that Claude/Ai title branding? It’s ruining the experience for me

thanks, not sure I get what you mean

The site looks vibecoded. I know this because that font style of your title is what Claude and many AI vomit. Just target the Css and change it. Goodluck

@unclebigbay143 So what’s wrong with Vibecoding the UI for the site? Does it communicate the message or not? Or you just have a problem with AI? 😏

@unclebigbay143 Nothing is. What’s wrong is being a developer taking gen codes as it is.

please use a less stretchy font like Inter or Aileron or Open Sans. legibility matters

Noted! Legibility is important.

found a bug on the pipeline page

thanks for reporting this, was due to the last mobile fix reflecting on desktop, patching it now

i dey for you

this should be fixed now, thanks

When we talk tech we should not forget health tech. The world is moving towards precision healthcare and at the heart of it is the processing of genomic data unfortunately, we don't produce much of that data. There's a lot to work on.

Spot on, health tech and genomic data are areas with huge untapped potential. Definitely worth exploring as we grow. You can share your suggestion on the platform

Honestly, These tech innovations should be trending everywhere in Nigeria, we Nigerians should be contributing to this development.

We need more Nigerians contributing to tech solutions for Nigeria, this is how progress happens.

This is a good initiative! Anyway I could contribute through writing and spreading the word? @unclebigbay143

Yes, you can, let's sync in DM

Love this man, can you post the complete mobile view...

This is great man

thank you, we have to create the change we want to see

I am also a builder about to launch one of my new product for the African market ...would be great to have u too onboard to help reach more persons

for sure, let me know how I can be of help

This is good idea despite the fact that politicians would ignore it.

Well done 👏

thank you, we're in this together

Love the idea!

thank you Dr, we're in this together! ✊🏽

Great work. It’s good

thanks man, one step at a time

I like this. Will review the posts

Nice one bro

Thanks! Appreciate the support

You’re welcome!

The mind ! Respect man ...

Is there one that can take record of staff attendance for very small organisations????

Nice one sir One step at a time

thanks man, steady does it

Open-source community tools solving real local problems (NaijaCivicTech style) is refreshing. As an angel lens, the best opportunities often come from builders shipping useful things quietly rather than perfecting pitch decks.

Please let's align and classify the solutions based on the SDGs. This will help organise the platform very well.

It’s a good idea. Welldone

I alreayd have a platform built. I wish someone can help see it and know it is huge

So right now this current software is being built to solve what problem ?? And do you aim to monetize it ?

Nice

I'm here like mad!!! Can't develop nada but I'm here!!!!

😂 Love the energy! That’s exactly the vibe we need, curiosity and support go a long way. Everyone has something to contribute, dev skills or not! Spread the word!

On it!!! 💯💯💯... I've followed you and put your post notifications on, just keep us in the loop!

This is lovely! Does it automate the build process for ideas submitted? If not I'm offering usage of @arvad_ai for free this month for every idea submitted

This is good, let me have a look at the repo

I'm an aspiring Front End developer, how do I become a part of this 😁

@unclebigbay143 Quick site feedback, the suggestions page doesn't let you scroll to older entries, only the latest ones show. Worth fixing so the community can see everything that's been dropped and avoid duplicates 🛠️

does this happen on mobile or desktop? will appreciate more context as both works

Desktop for me, chrome browser. The pipeline/suggestions section only shows the most recent cards, no way to scroll further or load more.

you have to scroll inside of the kaban, tried that?

I just checked it out right now, but it only works when i am specifically on the pipeline page and not the general page

yes, that's right, we only show 3 on the LP

I like this. Welldone man

Thanks! Appreciate the support 🙏

this is amazing. i can’t wait to begin contributing dev wise. as a suggestion, if not already in the works, can signing in with github be an option particularly for us devs? i feel it’ll help streamline operations
