As a scientist + Black woman, I have made a personal decision to stop using plastic synthetic braiding hair. In a world where so many odds are stacked against us, this was a threat that was easy to eliminate. We need more regulation and research. Sources in next tweet.

Damn! Relaxers contain caustic chemicals that are linked to cancer (besides they literally burn your skin) Now I hear synthetic hair has carcinogens, too! Then there’s even the ethical concerns with using human hair. Hair care for black women is full of hazards 😩😣

Keep going. Our lotions and body soaps, clothes, materials we cook and eat with. Our cleaning products. It’s so many toxins we consume daily. There are many clean organic alternatives available. Just pick one product at a time and make the switch gradually.

These chemicals would definitely be the cause for many of the scalp conditions people develop using them in their hair. My scalp used to be super itchy and flaky no matter what moisturizers I used.

I somehow managed to get entangled in a viral spat between Hugh Laurie and a woman that ended up with me mocking her on live TV. We need to stop putting so much weight on victimhood. Like Vorderman with the Makerfield Reform candidate, this woman knew her position was weak, so wielded her tears as a weapon. And she used the technique used by trans activists of reducing a complex issue to a simplistic aphorism - in this case "do you think women should be exposed to abuse online?" Obviously, in an ideal world, no woman would be exposed to abuse online. But in an ideal world, this woman would have a sense of personal accountability.

Well, Charlie Kirk was what came next. I think he was seen as a very dangerous man by many dangerous people, & that made him a target. But not even his death can stop the seeds that Charlie planted from growing.

People need to stop eating while braiding their hair as the chemicals could be absorbed in the scalp or from tiny cuts in the hands, as well as inhaled when the synthetic hair is burned or if a person is eating while the braids are being installed. A fruit or snack would've been okay but a whole bowl of rice ? Why ?

When Kamala Harris was running, Barack Obama was telling black men how she has had the same experiences as them and using that as a reason to vote for her. But I guess that logic doesn't apply to Winsome Earl Sears running for governor in Virginia. Barack Obama endorsed the white democrat running against her. It's just more proof that he was using Black Americans sensitivity to racism as a tool to manipulate us into voting for a democrat. It's not about voting for a black woman, it's about making sure you vote for a democrat.
