As advanced as SpaceX is, it’s still pretty cool to see them using basic techniques like this. SpaceX uses aluminum, zinc, and copper samples to check heat levels on the flame diverter in Starship Pad 2. The new pad is designed to launch a Starship every 60 minutes.

The SpaceX Starship Launch #4 was a HUGE success. Re-entry went better than most expected. As you can see, approximately 5 minutes before splashdown some of the heat seals malfunctioned and the heat caused the camera to crack and lose a clear view, but the StarShip continued to slow down and make it’s way to Earth before performing a flip and a successful splashdown in the Indian Ocean. AMAZING!

#SpaceX is preparing to move the massive new #Starship launch mount structure for #Starbase Pad B to the launch site for installation. In this post, I’ll give an overview of the design and use my 3D models to calculate the structure’s mass in its current configuration. This new launch mount, nearly an entire redesign, is SpaceX’s best effort at correcting many of the issues discovered with the mount at Pad A after a handful of launches. The only similarity between this mount and the original launch mount for Pad A is that 20 arms will still be used to support the #SuperHeavy booster before liftoff. However, the arms and everything else making up the structure are entirely different.
