I’m a West Point graduate, as are my brother and sister. My father is a retired U.S. Army colonel. Nearly 60 years of military service runs through my immediate family. I’m a God-fearing husband and father. I was born in Texas. I’ll die here. And I’m committed to leaving this state better than I found it for them. None of this is about race. It’s about service, faith, family, and responsibility. That’s what I love about Texas.

And before every single mission, before I climbed into that cockpit, I said the Lord’s Prayer. Not because I knew what the mission would bring, but because I knew Who ultimately held my life in His hands. It was an honor today to lead a prayer in Coachella, California for our nation before thousands of people and thank God for protecting Donald Trump from two assassination attempts. I prayed that he and all of us would be closer to the Lord. I then led the people in the Lord’s Prayer. Beautiful moment!

In July, there was a Texas Tribune story claiming that some Texas Republicans were reluctant to redraw Texas’ congressional maps. Let me be clear: I was never one of the reluctant! I passed new congressional maps in the Texas Senate so Texans could elect more Republicans to Congress. Accusations of racial discrimination were ridiculous then and ridiculous now. Judge Jerry Smith gets it. In his opinion issued yesterday, Judge Smith wrote, “the obvious reason for the 2025 redistricting of course is partisan gain[.]” I urge the U.S. Supreme Court to take quick action to allow all our conservative Texans to have conservative Republican representation in Congress! As I said, I was in support of electing more Republicans to Congress from Texas from the beginning. Here is a short clip of what I said in June before Gov. Abbott added redistricting to the special session call.

I’m running for Senate because I believe in this country. I’m someone who was willing to die for this country. I’m a West Point graduate. I’m a former Apache helicopter pilot. I flew 55 combat missions over Baghdad defending the freedoms we too often take for granted. And here’s what I learned in combat: Freedom is not automatic. Every generation has to earn it. Now it’s our turn. It is time for the next generation of leadership to step into the arena and fight for this great nation. President Trump transformed the Republican Party. He built the America First movement. But movements don’t survive unless the next generation is ready to carry them forward. I was the FIRST person in the country to endorse President Trump this last cycle. Not when it was convenient. Not when it was safe. When it mattered. I’m the candidate who can win the primary and win the general election. I have the energy. I have the record. I have the story. And I don’t need to burn through $100 million to do it. As an Apache pilot, I recognize patterns. When you’re a sideshow, no one shoots at you. When they’re spending millions attacking you every single week, it means you’re directly over the target. And that tells me everything I need to know. This movement is real. This moment is real. And Texas is ready for a NEW generation of leadership. The time is NOW.

As we reach the finish line, and as the last voters across Texas head to the polls, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your stories. Thank you for your love, your encouragement, and your prayers. This campaign has never just been about an election. It has been about faith, family, and freedom. I want to thank my wife, Emily. None of this is possible without her strength. I want to thank my children, Victoria, Olivia, and Willie. You are the reason I fight. You are the reason this matters. We have traveled this great state together, listening to Texans who feel unheard, who believe in this country, and who want leaders that serve with humility, not entitlement. Today, Texas has the opportunity to turn the page on the status quo. Twenty-four years in Washington is enough. Texas does not need another six years of the same politics, the same excuses, and the same “unit party” deals. We deserve servant leadership, not career politicians. I am asking for your VOTE because I believe in service. I believe in term limits. I believe leadership is about sacrifice, not self-preservation. I am grateful. Grateful for this state. 🚨BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: It has never been more clear that the battle for our nation is not political, it is spiritual. I am excited to announce that I have been invited to join the team at the National Faith Advisory Board to equip pastors to step up and speak out about religious freedom, to fight for life at all stages, to stand for family values, and to promote a strong America that puts God first. I will continue to be a pastor at Mercy Culture Church, and oversee For Liberty & Justice, an organization that practically helps mobilize churches across America to take a stand for religious liberty and Biblical justice. In order to step into what God is calling my family and I into in this next season, I will not be running for re-election for the Texas House. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to represent Texas House District 93 and to fight for our Texas Conservative values. Thank you to every grassroots warrior, every donor, and every constituent who trusted me and has allowed me to serve you. I’d like to thank my beautiful wife Adrienne Schatzline for supporting me, believing in me, and lovingly holding down the fort back home with our amazing kids for the last few years. Hey Jasmine… Black pilot here. I think you missed the plot. Then again, that’s becoming a pattern. I graduated from West Point. I went through Army flight school. I learned to fly the AH-64 Apache. I deployed to combat and flew 55 combat missions over Baghdad. Nobody handed me a cockpit because of my skin color. Nobody lowered the standards for me. Nobody looked at me and said, “Let’s check a diversity box.” That’s what people like you don’t seem to understand. Suggesting that Black pilots, Black engineers, Black doctors, or Black leaders need special preferences to succeed is not empowering, it’s insulting. I didn’t want a different standard. I wanted the same standard. And when you’re flying into combat, the American people don’t care what race the pilot is. They care whether the pilot is qualified. Merit isn’t racist. Excellence isn’t discriminatory. And reducing every achievement to skin color says far more about your worldview than it does about mine.
