He just understood one simple thing - Epic pays for every minute a player spends on your map, and tycoon maps keep people for 45-90 minutes per session. You can do the same thing on any computer right now and make $7,000 to $10,000 a month without leaving your room. Claude writes all the code for you - no programming experience needed. $722 million already paid out to creators. 58 people became millionaires in 2024. And until the end of 2026 Epic gives 100% of item sales on your map. They're literally giving money away. The only question is who gets in while the window is open.

" His whole argument is that platforms like Roblox and Fornite are the future: Huge locked in gamer demographics, playing content within these games and buying things in these games. But he contrasts Epic's strategy vs Roblox. Instead of one gatekeeper, Epic wants to "change the way we build things. We're going to need to build better games, we're gonna need to build them more efficiently, and we're gonna need to design up front and build for connected games, where all of our player bases are connected socially and our economies are connected, so that players, instead of seeing these as isolated products, see them as part of, you know, a, a global ecosystem that all game developers participate in together. " To this end, Epic has open sourced Meta-Humans and Lore, their new revision control system. It's clear he want to create a network of games, all linked together, sharing content via Epic tools and technologies (but allowing for other engines).

Unity shipped the best AI gamedev tool of the year and called it a CLI. An agent can now run C# straight inside the live editor through Roslyn - no recompile, no domain reload, no waiting. It enters play mode, changes game state and playtests its own build. Unity made it free, with no concurrency limits. I handed it to the open-source Kimi K3 and asked for games. Crossy Road, Suika, a spider with a procedural IK gait, tower defense on a real NavMesh - one prompt each, and it handled them. The same kind of build through Unreal took about three times as long.
