The data points available do not reflect a situation in which the protesters are entirely peaceful, or the regime only clamps down on violent protesters. Reality appears far less neat. The government has clearly clamped down extremely brutally in the darkness of the internet shutdown. But evidence is also emerging of brutal violence from elements within the protesters as well - levels of violence rarely seen in previous protests. In this clip, a group of protesters appears to have beaten up a police officer and then set him on fire. A young woman is seen filming it. Later, another group of protesters beat and kicked a lifeless person lying on the ground. Protesters are also seen throwing Molotov cocktails and setting buildings on fire. In the past, once protests turned violent (in 2009, this took several weeks and was on a smaller scale), it tended to repel other protesters and result in smaller but more radicalized demonstrations. Anger today, however, is at a completely different level, so a larger sway of the protesters may view violence as acceptable (anecdotally, there is a growing view in certain quarters that violence is necessary, based on past failures to overthrow the regime) All in all, when also taking into account the geopolitical situation in which a) Israel seeks a destabilized Iran, b) Trump showing a growing inclination to strike Iran militarily, c) pro-Israel elements in Washington declaring that the protesters will be receiving arms from the outside, the risk of the Syrianization of Iran cannot easily be dismissed. Everyone I have spoken to expresses both hope and fear. Hope, because some form of change is deemed necessary, and fear, because it is wishful thinking to dismiss the grave risks associated with the situation.

While attempting to interview protesters at City Hall in Philadelphia, a masked protester pointed at my face and called me a pig. Throughout my bizarre encounter with this person another man attempted to sabotage our video by putting his sign between the camera man and I. Things took an aggressive turn when the man followed us and forcefully solved his sign in front of our camera. The cops then told the man that he was not allowed to follow us around and swiftly formed a human wall to protect us from the increasingly aggressive protesters. We will continue asserting out right to exist on public property and cover these protests. Like and share if you support our mission!

🚨#URGENTSTATEMENT The Government of India is trying to betray the youth of this nation. During today’s hearing, the Supreme Court made its intention very clear: it sought a list of FIRs registered against students and protesters across the country from the Union Government so that it can quash all of them at one go, in exercise of its powers under Article 142. The Court sought this information not once, not twice, but thrice. Yet, the Union Government’s lawyer did not commit to furnishing such a list and instead actively resisted it. But why? On July 25, CJP called off its nationwide agitation in good faith after the Government of India gave solemn commitments concerning the withdrawal of FIRs, protection of protesters from punitive action, and compensation to the affected families at a national press conference with the CJP. Today, the Supreme Court itself offered a clear path towards giving effect to one of those commitments. Providing a consolidated list of FIRs would, in fact, make it easier for the Union Government and BJP/NDA-ruled states to fulfil the assurance they gave to the country on July 25. But the Government of India is resisting. The Court even offered the Union Government an alternative: if there are cases involving hardened criminals with a history of heinous offences who are alleged to have committed acts of violence during the protests, the Government could identify those FIRs separately so that such cases may be dealt with on their own merits. The young people of this country are entitled to ask whether the Government of India ever intended to honour its word, or whether the assurances given by two Union Ministers before the nation on July 25 were merely meant to bring an end to a peaceful nationwide movement. We will not permit the Government to play games with the trust of India’s students, Gen-Z and young citizens. CJP has exercised patience. We have negotiated in good faith. We called off our agitation in good faith. And we have given the Government sufficient opportunity to honour its commitments in good faith. That patience is now running out. And therefore we now warn the government. If the Government does not immediately demonstrate concrete steps towards honouring the July 25 commitments, the Cockroach Janta Party will convene its National Working Committee within the next two days to decide the next course of nationwide action. We hope the Government understands the seriousness of this moment. Do not mistake restraint for surrender. Do not mistake good faith for weakness. And do not play with the trust of an entire generation. What CJP does next will depend entirely upon what the Government of India chooses to do now. On July 25, CJP called off its nationwide agitation in good faith after the Government of India gave solemn commitments concerning the withdrawal of FIRs, protection of protesters from punitive action, and compensation to the affected families at a national press conference with the CJP. Today, the Supreme Court itself offered a clear path towards giving effect to one of those commitments. Providing a consolidated list of FIRs would, in fact, make it easier for the Union Government and BJP/NDA-ruled states to fulfil the assurance they gave to the country on July 25. But the Government of India is resisting. The Court even offered the Union Government an alternative: if there are cases involving hardened criminals with a history of heinous offences who are alleged to have committed acts of violence during the protests, the Government could identify those FIRs separately so that such cases may be dealt with on their own merits. The young people of this country are entitled to ask whether the Government of India ever intended to honour its word, or whether the assurances given by two Union Ministers before the nation on July 25 were merely meant to bring an end to a peaceful nationwide movement. We will not permit the Government to play games with the trust of India’s students, Gen-Z and young citizens. CJP has exercised patience. We have negotiated in good faith. We called off our agitation in good faith. And we have given the Government sufficient opportunity to honour its commitments in good faith. That patience is now running out. And therefore we now warn the government. If the Government does not immediately demonstrate concrete steps towards honouring the July 25 commitments, the Cockroach Janta Party will convene its National Working Committee within the next two days to decide the next course of nationwide action. We hope the Government understands the seriousness of this moment. Do not mistake restraint for surrender. Do not mistake good faith for weakness. And do not play with the trust of an entire generation. What CJP does next will depend entirely upon what the Government of India chooses to do now. As the business community in Uganda protests against prohibitive taxes, we continue to stand in solidarity with them. What makes these taxes especially wrong and immoral, is that most of the money collected goes to the luxurious and extravagant lifestyle of Gen. Museveni, his family and cronies, and then another big portion is lost through unabated corruption. We all have a duty to support and stand in solidarity with the protesting traders because it is not just their issue but our issue. High taxes lead to high commodity prices which in turn affects every citizen! #PeoplePowerOurPower

Food allegedly worth crores were distributed for 35- 40 days at Jantar Mantar by Junaid. The cops are on to him and his family to find out the source where the money came from. At a time like this when Junaid is howling in news interviews unable to stop his tears, Saurav Das Abhijeet Dipke Ashutosh Ranka have not called him even once to check on him, leave alone help him or even mention his problem in the media. Only a lawyer has called him a couple of times. Junaid feels the party has distanced itself from him and not paying as much attention to his apathy as they should have... The CJP Spox dumped #VijetaDahiya, then Wangchuk and now Junaid... The kids hurt in the retaliatory laathi charge (after being instigated by Dipke, Ranka and Das to march to the parliament, while they hid in safety of AC rooms under pretext of meetings or in the back of a truck out of reach of laathis) are still undergoing treatment for their injuries But these people are busy dancing, eating and enjoying at a lavish 5 star party... Shameless and selfish to the core... Wouldn't take too long to be on the receiving end of those who supported them...

AISA president Neha Bora, who staged a 22-day fake hunger strike during the CJP protest for attention, was not taken seriously by anyone at the CJP protest. The CJP leadership did not include Neha Bora in any important discussions, nor did Abhijeet Dipke give her a place on the CJP's main stage to conduct her hunger strike. CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka met government ministers 4-5 times, but they never took Neha Bora with them. After the Education Minister's resignation, the CJP leadership celebrated with the protesters and then went home. The students also left the protest site. Neha Bora was left alone at the protest site, so she called in a hired crowd. They put flower garlands around her neck, carried her on their shoulders through the streets, and raised slogans in her support, portraying her as the leader of the protest. By doing all this, Neha Bora is trying to take credit by claiming that she was the leader of this protest and that the minister resigned because of her. From Neha Bora's hunger strike to now calling a crowd to raise slogans in her support - it's all fake. 😂😂
