“As early as next season, the most practical solution for the 12-team playoff would be a true final ranking to determine the matchup. So the 4 highest ranked teams would get a bye. Conference championships get you in, but doesn’t mean you get a first round bye.” From DP's source

DP get over the seeding and ranking. That's all we heard this week. Let it play out in the first year and adjust if need be.

These people were so mad Bama didn’t get in that they want to revamp the playoff already 😂😂

Why didn’t they just take some notes from a model that has worked for years in the NCAA Basketball tourney. Just because a dark horse wins a conference tourney, they aren’t automatically a top seed. They make the show, but are seeded accordingly based on the entire body of work!

A HUGE consideration I cannot figure out why there is NEVER talk about it.PRE-Season rankings?!? mean everything.Based on what exactly?? Never understood this. Nat'l ranking should begin week 3, after SOME body of work has been established...Losing Week 2 to NIU has MORE meaning

@dwightjaynes An idea I read that sounded good was top 4 ranked get byes, conference champs that aren’t top 4 get to host their 1st round games, still rewards being a conference champ without messing up the seeding.

What's the difference between the current CFP and the NFL where a division champ(s) can host a playoff game against a wild card with a better record ?

Won't change anything. still having idiots who would decide who gets the bye.

Makes overall record a priority so who then would want to play a tough non conference game?

Ask the NFL if they'd like that in their playoffs. (Ed. Note: They don't.)
