Umps will let this slide and then call a balk on Kevin Gausman for his delivery being .2 seconds longer than usual

@TalkinBaseball_ Umps need to chill and I’m kinda getting sick of these on field arguments over calls.

Only baseball can turn a broken chain into a full argument, delay, and ejection in one sequence 💀

@TalkinBaseball_ how is that not a no pitch/quick pitch? because he had a wind-up still and didn’t go from the stretch?

Why don’t they get rid of this silly pitch clock bullshit and go back to the way things were for 100+ years? They should also get rid of a runner starting on second base in extra innings.

Long walk when you get tossed in Sac

He has a point tbh, Wacha literally went right into the pitch and didn't make eye contact

Ban the bling. We get it. You’re rich. Leave that crap in the locker room.

Why do athletes even wear jewelry while playing... especially chains. I've never understood this

Another toddler temper tantrum by a supposedly grown man umpire. His angry facial expressions remind me of my 3 year old. Be professional.

Love the long walk of shame. Reminds of visiting player ejections at Candlestick

May need to tweak the rule. If the batter has to be in the box and looking at the pitcher with 8 seconds on the clock, the pitcher should have to be on the rubber looking at the batter.

Love the A’s throwback Kansas City hats tho

@TalkinBaseball_

Their clubhouse is still behind Left Field? Haha

The umpire really let a pitcher fix his jewelry mid at bat and still tossed the guy who said something about it 😭 the A's hitting coach got ejected for having a completely valid point and baseball's unwritten rules make zero sense sometimes 💀⚾

Announcer says he didn't step off? You can clearly see him step forward onto rubber after removing chain when camera is behind. It's the wind-up... there's no runners on, so no balk. Why did batter stay in the box..? No pitch at best but with windup, step out or take your strike.

It’s “One fell swoop” !! #nate

Ump lets the pitcher play jeweler on the mound then ejects the coach for complaining?

umm umpire really had to eject the coach right when Wacha was slowly fixing that chain in his pocket? he wasss locked in let him finish what he started :3

@TalkinBaseball_

that is hella corny from wacha. dont blame the coach at all id be fuming

There's is absolutely nothing wrong with Wacha pitch here. It's just not even close to optimal and why you world never see it be done regularly. He was just forced into because of the pitch clock and nobody doing the game.

good head of lettuce on that ump though

read this as “a shitting coach” at first

Am I wrong? If he was engaged rubber at 8 seconds while dealing with the chain, then he disengaged with the rubber at the 3 second mark. If he wasn't, then he didn't step on the rubber with his pivot foot until the 2 second mark. It's either an ball or balk.

Ump looks like a fat Jim Halpert

I watch a lot of baseball but never heard of this chain infraction. ?

@TalkinBaseball_ Ump should’ve called time but also why is the hitter in the box and looking at Wacha? Just step out.

Why don’t more sports give umpires the opportunity to throw out coaches? Makes things exciting

There's too many fucking dumb pitching rules. All these rules hurt the game, all the balk rules are next level retarded. Just let the guys play the game the way it was meant to be played and stop this bullshit.

Windup was already in motion at the last second, doesn’t matter the release time. Cry some more nobody’s

Thats an elite jersey matchup my goodness

Not a balk issue since nobody is on base. It’s a substance issue and the A’s have every right to be upset. IMO Wacha is just in a rush to beat the pitch clock but the pitch should have been called a ball since MW went from his pocket directly to the ball w/o cleaning his hand
