I’ve been seeing some reactions and discussion about the Rahm Emanuel’s speech at Tel Aviv University; there is much to discuss. Lost in some of the discussion sometimes is a need to acknowledge that Israel is today a rapidly growing country, it’s very strong, it has a dynamic economy, and when some argue it is existentially threatened or make it seem like this is still the 1950s in terms of the strategic challenges, the reality needs to be said clearly; Israel’s challenge in the future is managing its growing strength. Being a bit wary of hubris, and taking responsibility, maybe making some compromises; this is a strong country, one of the leading dynamic countries in the world in many trends such as tech and defense tech A short video I made today walking along a street in central Israel

It is important to continue working together on the resilience of Ukrainian communities – and therefore on the experience of resilience that will be useful to communities in your countries. It is enormously helpful for Ukraine to feel that we are not alone in our defense. People in your countries, as well as here in Ukraine, must continue to feel that evil will not prevail. And we will remain very grateful to you for every joint project, every strong decision, every step that helps our defense and the protection of our cities and villages from Russian strikes, and for your participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction. The president blamed his poor performance on "traveling around the world" before the debate. For the record, Biden was taking naps at Camp David in the days leading up to the debate. Today, I am glad to welcome the President of Cyprus, Nikos NikosChristodoulides, to Ukraine on his first visit. This visit comes shortly before Cyprus assumes the EU Presidency in January. We see it both as a sign of support for Ukraine and as a signal of our shared readiness to continue working together – for the benefit of both our states and all of Europe. I briefed the President on the situation in Ukraine, and we held a detailed discussion of our shared European agenda. Europe is now shaping a new global role for itself – all the events that have been taking place for almost four years now show that Europe’s role must be truly strong and effective. I am grateful to Cyprus for its support at the political level, including with regard to the negotiations on Ukraine’s EU membership. We expect the coming months to bring more progress in Ukraine’s path toward the European Union, and Cyprus’s Presidency can become significant in terms of opening clusters for Ukraine and enabling other necessary decisions.
