I do believe removing "beyond reasonable dought" and replacing it with "you must be sure" is responsible for many miscarriages of justice. "I'm sure I left my keys in the kitchen, but it's ok, I found them in my pocket in the hall". #SureIsNotEnough

Area worth exploring. However, having read Richard Webster and lived my own experience, I know that unanimous juries convict men of sex offences which never happened going back to 90s. Impartial police investigation gone. Exculpatory evidence not only not disclosed but avoided.

You get unanimous verdicts because judges are ordering so.

Juries are easily influenced by the press ( so many cases are on the news), their own prejudice, stereotypes and so on. Thus easily manipulated by a judge.
