As part of CDFW’s Beaver Restoration Program, beavers are back at work on the Tule River Indian Reservation. The beavers released on the Tule River watershed are expected to build dams that slow the flow of water and in turn create drought and wildfire resilience.

I remember during the 2012-2017 drought, the only stream we saw flowing around Lake Tahoe was downstream of a beaver dam. They're so important- very happy to see this happening in conjunction with tribal leaders and hope to see more in the future!
