“It was given every conceivable test”

lol

Little did he know …

@dippydinos Indeed…

File under "Experts agree" and "The science is settled."

It’s not very different even now imo

Remember Roundup, petrolum jelly, talcom, silicone boobs, corn sweetener, Bill Gates hamburger... ......

That’s a solid list

I died when that guy started to SAND the sample…

The cherry on top was him sending it and going in for a sniff at 0:38 💀💀💀

If it didn't have the unfortunate side effects it does on our bodies, it would be a spectacular material for all kinds of things. There's good reason it was so widely used for so long. It's really unfortunate that it has the side effects it does.

They made cigarettes in the 50s with asbestos filters. No joke, Kent was the brand. A two for one!

Please someone add persistent dry coughing to the audio

Asbestos was used as snow in The Wizard of Oz

Does anyone know why Agent Phil Coulson time-traveled to give asbestos a thumbs up?

Mesothelioma is terrifying to me.

Asbestos was so great it was even used in cigarette filters

fun fact : through out most of recorded history asbestoses was known as salamander wool and was used to make fireproof clothing

it’s kinda crazy that it IS a remarkable mineral, its miraculously useful, versatile, durable, cheap and naturally occurring…. it’s literally everything you’d want in a material ……except it just kinda also happens to fuck up your lungs permanently and give you cancer

It's a real shame this stuff was discovered to be toxic, because otherwise it's a wonder material.

Smooth....

Asbestos explained in 2026. You're drinking it.

It’s the ultimate "forbidden snack" of the mineral world. Incredible heat resistance, impossible to burn, can be woven like fabric... and all it asks for in return is your respiratory health. Nature really balanced the stats too hard on that one. It's basically a cursed item from an RPG.

Disclaimer: Nobody was not harmed during the making of this video.

Mind you the World Trade Center used Asbestos in their Construction

If the 90's taught me anything...

I can feel my lungs stinging just by looking at it.

Canada still makes asbestos. It's illegal here but we sell it to poor countries to kill them over there

Funny the generation that had Asbestos, DDT, Lead Paint is living into their 80s, 90s, and 100s yet my generation are all dying in their 60s 70s and younger. Or at least it sure seems that way

They banned asbestos because it was so good at everything. Their first goal is to prevent something from even coming to market. After it does, their next step is to demonize it and scare the public from using it.

There are still legal industrial uses in the united states. And lots of countries still use it for industrial purposes.

Lest we forget..

>sands the asbestos

We should start using it again

Ancient Times: The Roman historian Pliny the Elder (1st Century AD) noted that slaves who worked with asbestos cloth became ill and died. He even described the use of animal bladders as primitive respirators to protect workers from the dust.

He’s sanding the asbestos

Back in the day, scientists would eat DDT as well to demonstrate its safety.
