Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) on HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr: Margaret Brennan: We now have a long-time vaccine skeptic who is running HHS, who, in private practice, sued vaccine makers. How much harm has he done? Or do you believe that he has restored trust in public health, as you thought he might do? Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA): Well, he has not restored trust in public health, and you can see the administration, if you believe the press accounts, are trying to limit his range of activity. Polling shows that the American people understand that vaccines are important, and for someone to be out there saying that they're not goes against their experience.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) said on the Senate floor earlier this month that President Trump needs to engage in making healthcare more affordable. He told Margaret Brennan Thursday “if the president gets engaged, it gives a real push.” “The plan I propose takes principles that the president has embraced and makes them and kind of puts them into practice, if you will,” Cassidy said.

Margaret Brennan: Will anyone else hold the president accountable once Cornyn is gone and Tillis is gone, and you're gone? Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA): The simple answer will be yes. The men and women who serve in Congress, by and large, love our country. I mean, they all love our country deeply, and by and large they will do what is required… The Senate is a separate body, separate from the presidency. I think we're seeing that. Margaret Brennan: Do you think the president understands that? Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA): I don't know if the president does.

“We do see the consequences, though, of ignoring the benefits that things like vaccines brings for public health,” Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) said when asked whether the Trump administration’s health policy is prepared to handle mass gatherings like the World Cup or a disease outbreak. “There is a consequence to not obeying the science of immunization, and one is children dying from measles, as has occurred, and thousands getting sick, with many in the hospital,” he told Margaret Brennan on Thursday. “So, I would argue, unfortunately, facts can be a tough, tough teacher.”

The hundreds of thousands of dollars gifted to President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., by a Russian oligarch as a wedding gift “shouldn’t have been done in the first place,” Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) says, adding that “anytime someone gives a $250,000 gift and they have strong ties to the Kremlin, that's wrong.” “And even though…it might be a gift, the appearance of it is really bad,” he tells Margaret Brennan. “And so, I'm glad it's been repaid. It would be nice to have that kind of verified.”

.Margaret Brennan: When you were talking about the extension of the health care subsidies, why isn't the promise to hold a vote on those health care subsidies enough for Democrats to vote to reopen the government? New Jersey Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill: “I think we have seen what the promises that Republicans have made have been worth. What he needs to do is actually put the subsidies in. We can serve the American people, we can drive down health care costs, and that's really key.”

“Is the message here for Republicans that if you dissent from the President, he is going to take you down?” Margaret Brennan asked Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) after Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy’s defeat in his Republican primary. “Well, it is one of the many reasons, Margaret, why we need to open primaries up in all 50 states,” Fitzpatrick said. “Closed primaries, coupled with gerrymandering, your previous question, are really, really hurting our country. They're causing gridlock on the House floor.”

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) says he relied in part on information from Sen. John Cornyn in deciding to back Todd Blanche for attorney general despite concerns over the DOJ's “anti-weaponization” fund, telling Margaret Brennan, “I trust John on that.” “It took him a while to get there, but the fact that John did was important to met,” Cassidy says. “I’m relying on others that are bringing me information, and I have to trust them on that.”

CBS environmental correspondent David Schechter rips Lee Zeldin: “I think the biggest risk is that we have a small window to deal with climate change, really. I mean, you know, it is getting smaller and smaller, less than 10 years to level out and reduce our emissions, and we had — and have currently a lot of rules that deal with that. To throw those out would undo a lot of progress that has been made to try to reach these new standards for our country and for the world, and — and we will lose our opportunity to really get ahead of this problem or even stay current with the problem.”

Carney is asked "You told Canadians that you would be elbows up and they appear to have largely given you a mandate to get a good deal from the President." "But thus far we have not seen that Canada has gotten basically nothing." "And Canada also had to give one of its bargaining chips when it comes to the digital services tax, something other countries like the UK did not get give up in their deal with the US." "How do you still convince Canadians that you are really elbows up?" Carney "We will continue to work constructively for a deal, but it has to be a deal that works for Canadians and Canadian workers." "And part of the reason why we don't have a deal is that deal is not yet on the table." Mark Carney

VIDEO | Delhi: At a press conference, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi says, "Prime Minister thinks that just because he puts a phone in front of his face, he suddenly becomes someone who is able to communicate with Gen Z. No. The problem is your image. The problem is what you have done to these students. The problem is how you have destroyed their future. The problem is what you have done to the economy. That's the problem. And that image is gone. So, the field is open for us. And I really thank the students. I'm very proud of them. And I don't like saying this, but they had the courage that their parents did not have."
