Asked why Israeli forces are using lethal force against starving Palestinian children trying to access food, the State Department spokesman replied: “It is important to remember, though, that, as I said again, Hamas bears sole responsibility for this conflict. That is fundamental.” He offered no explanation for the killings,... show more

🧵THREAD: The State Department spokesman was repeatedly pressed today about the effectiveness of the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, following the Trump administration’s pledge of $30 million in new funding over the next month. A CBS reporter questioned whether the aid effort is working at all, citing widespread hunger and a firsthand report from @zeteo_news, written by a GHF contractor, describing a failing mission. The spokesman repeated the talking point that 46 million meals have entered Gaza—a figure local sources say is wildly inflated. Much of the aid that does get distributed, sources have told Drop Site, is looted—in many cases by armed gangs operating with Israeli support.

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell challenged the State Department over its continued support for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, citing widespread criticism from the UN and Arab governments over its limited distribution sites, denial of access to northern Gaza, and Israeli military control in violation of international law. Asked whether the program would expand distribution sites to meet Gaza’s needs, the spokesman gave no specifics—repeating that “46 million meals have been distributed.” Mitchell pointed out the number for a whole month doesn’t add up to much and that 2 million people have gone nearly a month without consistent aid. @andreamodel_

Asked whether the U.S. is pressing Israel to lift restrictions on independent aid groups that were previously able to deliver food more widely across Gaza, the State Department spokesman made clear it is not. “What we’re pushing for is for other countries to support the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s work,” he said. When questioned about the lack of new distribution sites—and growing warnings that existing ones have become ‘death traps’ overseen by trigger-happy Israeli soldiers—he responded: “Hamas bears sole responsibility for this conflict… we’re seeing Hamas act in barbaric ways.” He also referred to reports of Palestinians killed while seeking food as “Hamas propaganda.” @SMArikat

Can we have all these people arrested if they travel overseas ..

So is there something, or anything, Israel can't/must not do? Is everything on the table? How about kidnapping palestinian toddlers and torturing them in Israeli prisons? Still justifiable, and the fault of Hamas?

Israel is about to make peace with all the golf countries plus syria and Lebanon. Hamas is about to surrender now that it lost its sponsor. We are heading for peace in the middle east

'Creative solutions' for a problem U$/1SR created. Sigh.
