You would be surprised how many times I’ve had this conversation 🤦🏻‍♂️ Not all AAU programs are equal. There are some good ones out there for sure. I benefited as a player by playing for a club. But then… There are some bad ones. And with the bad ones comes a lot of wasted time, money and effort. Empty promises when it comes to development and exposure to college coaches. Some kids on these teams can’t make 10 free throws in a row or dribble with their weak hand but we have them playing 80 games a summer expecting it to magically improve. Then they go back to their HS Coaches as the same player they were the year before but expecting different results. Now kids should make more time for their own skill work as well but some of these programs require 4-8 hours a week at their “practices” plus travel and games every weekend…. Have you seen some of these AAU practices? Skill development is non existent in a lot of these. But isn’t the point to make the kids better? Just get better every summer and have a great high school season then worry about getting recruited. Some of these kids are on their JV teams expecting to get scholarship offers 🤦🏻‍♂️ There are bad trainers and bad coaches out there as well. I understand that. This is just my perspective and experience with the kids that have been in the gym with me over the last 7 years.

Takeaway from today: Now this is my opinion, and I may be wrong or right. But to me...if any of you ever wondered why Western Game Journalists and even some Western Game Devs treat Asian games with such disdain and seem to often throw shade at them, even when its obvious they're appealing to many gamers. Remember Phil Fish's attitude towards Japanese (by extension Asian) games. I am of the opinion that Phil's thoughts on Asian games, is the thoughts shared by many Game Journalists and some Western Game Devs. This is why you have IGN giving 6/10 to Where Winds Meet, Eurogamer Germany giving it a 4 OUT OF 10...or IGN again throwing shade at Black Myth Wukong's devs using mistranslations. My opinion, Western Gaming Industry, particularly the Game Journalists, and the "Clique" developers, view Asian Games with vitriol and it never stopped - Phil Fish only said the quiet part out loud.

This woman lived in a town called Northside in Fort Worth, Texas She says they have check cashing places that don’t check IDs, the area is Hispanic and after they get their money they walk across the street to the Western Union and send it to Mexico. There are lines of illegals “This little check cashing place called Cambiamos Cheques. It's a place where you go if you don't have a bank or very good ID, and they charge you a fee and you cash your check. And of course every Friday there was a line of people from the neighborhood, getting their check cash. And one thing I noticed one day is that certain people would go and cash their check in the, you know, the check cashing area. And then they'd move right down to the Western Union window where they would send money. Now I didn't know what was going on because I was new to Texas, new to the world, new to check cashing, new to all of it. So I asked my girlfriend, hey, you know, why do I see so many people in line at the Western Union? And she just said, oh, it's because they're sending money home. And I said, home? She said, yeah, like back to Mexico. They're sending money home. Then she's proceeded to explain to me that it's mostly illegal immigrants that are here working under the table, taking their checks and getting them cashed and then sending most of that money. #RobloxDev One of Roblox's biggest problems isn't just monetization. It's that we've slowly accepted the idea that games made for kids don't have to be good. Somewhere along the way, "it's for kids" stopped being a target audience and started becoming an excuse. An excuse for shallow gameplay, lazy garbage, and games designed to maximize engagement instead of creating memorable experiences. You see this outside of games too. Whenever a movie or show for kids gets criticized, one of the first responses is, "Well, it's for kids." As if that somehow excuses lower standards. But the best family movies are loved by both kids and adults because they're simply well made. They respect their audience instead of talking down to them. Roblox used to feel more like that. Games like Work at a Pizza Place and Natural Disaster Survival weren't perfect, but they were built around fun ideas instead of engagement metrics. Even early simulators like Bubblegum Simulator had a level of charm and respect for their audience before the genre became flooded with trend chasing brainrot games built around AI garbage. The problem isn't that kids have lower standards. It's that adults stopped believing quality products for kids matter. That's the philosophy behind the side project I've been working on Beeconomy. It's made with kids in mind, but I don't want to talk down to them. I want to make something adults can enjoy too. Something built with care instead of optimized to squeeze every dollar out of its audience. Making a game for kids shouldn't mean making a worse game. Kids deserve better from us.
