What’s your attitude when you get a windy day on the course? One of the best things about playing links golf is you get used to the wind. You go from fearing it to craving it. (When the course is made for wind.) We had a super windy day at Kennemer in Holland. Had 180 yards straight into the breeze on 9, went with a dead hand 7 wood and struck gold. A great shot is always satisfying. But the more variables you take on, the more satisfying it is. Learning to treat wind as an opportunity to really play golf completely changes your enjoyment level.

What’s the coolest man made feature on a golf course? Saw this clip again today and thought about the question. The Sphere view from the Wynn Golf Club is unreal. This is truly the perfect golf hole for Las Vegas. Not counting just man made golf holes, think more exterior features like waterfalls etc… Video: bobdoessports

What’s the best golf course in the USA that no longer exists? This was once a golf course… Look at the land on the water. Just an unreal piece of ground. That was the original Sutton Bay golf course. Sadly the land kept shifting and moving into the water, it became an un-winnable battle. The course sadly had to be abandoned. I never got to play the original. The new one is incredible, fun and creative and with great views. But the original must have been something else…

Who is the longest driving golf course superintendent? The 12th hole at The Scarecrow was playing 425….but only 370 if you could make an insane carry. Gamble Sands Superintendent Rob Ackerley decided to go for it and ended up green high!!! He was bombing it 350+ all day, even drove over a 360 yard par 4 green. Power for days. Though I did birdie the hole from 180 yards …scorecard doesn’t show your distances! 😂

Ja Rule hit a golf ball into the crowd and struck a photographer at a celebrity golf tournament yesterday. The rapper took part in the Derek Jeter Invitational at Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas on Tuesday (Dec. 16) and had a shocking moment on the course. Golfweek Senior Writer Adam Schupak captured the moment Ja hit the golf ball directly into the crowd during the celebrity shootout. Off camera, a photographer was hit in the elbow by the flying ball. The video also shows Ja realizing what he did wrong and the crowd grimacing. “I hit you?” he asked the photographer. “Oh my God.” Ja started playing golf during the pandemic and has been hooked ever since.

Why it’s a good idea to play golf with me- or hang out with me. I have been present or have hung out with people who have had 9 hole in one’s. Today I spent the day at Mt Lake. My host gets a hole-in-one on the very last day the course is open. The course goes under restoration tomorrow!!! Last week it was an albatross on the MacKenzie Course at 21 Golf Club. Even saw one at Augusta National. I am a lucky charm!

Okay, I know seaside links is the best golf. But in the summer in America, mountain golf is so good. Wearing a quarter zip in July… Nick Faldo teeing off the first at Moonlight Basin. Can go safe right or try to clear the waste left. It’s at altitude, so 270 goes 300. One of the wildest golf courses I’ve ever played.

One of the neatest things about golf in Japan: The moving walkways! Japan is all about walking golf, despite the fact that it’s brutally hot and super hilly. These walkways are a nice respite. This one is from Yokohama, where the PGA Tour is playing right now. Also the caddies bring solar umbrellas for the players. Legit amazing. They think of everything.
