At Axis (💔), we had an incredibly useful tool that could automatically generate materials from a folder of textures. I decided to create something similar for my own projects and share it with the SideFX Houdini community—completely free! #3d #houdini #python #materialx

Introducing TextToMtlX: this tool reads a folder of textures, groups them by material (based on a naming convention), and generates materials using MaterialX. It even gives you the option to convert your textures to TX files for better optimization. Hope you find it useful. Check it out on my GitHub:

Version 1.1 is up with some fixes. 🥳 * Now it has a setup to control UV Tiling and Offset on materials not using UDIMs. * Also added support to Translucency and Cavity maps

@sidefx This looks very helpful, thanks! Would be great to have an option to create MtlXTiledImage instead of regular image nodes. Handy to have the scale and offset options if you're using a tiling texture.

That is a very good point. If you aren't using UDIMs it should bring a mtlxtiledimage. I should have that implemented by tomorrow. I plan to add more adjustments and make them part of the subnet UI so you don't need to open the subnet to adjust the nodes.
