On 20th of April 1976, R.B. Ramesh was born! 50 years ago! He became a GM at the age of 27 years in 2003. In 2002, he had won the British Championships, and in 2007 he became the Commonwealth Champion. In 2008, he took a bold step in his chess career. Alex Collins was so special man. Amazing teammate and a guy everyone was down to kick it with. This man invited me and wifey out one time in Baltimore and I will never forget it. We show up to the spot and AC is no where to be found. We are looking around for him for 20 min and finally I feel a little nudge on my shoulder. I turnaround and AC is walking behind me, drops his shades to his nose and signals with his eyes to follow him. It was so funny and smooth, we forgot he was 20 min late. AC told us he had to be discreet because he couldn’t have everyone knowing he was there. The rest of the night, we found out why. Everywhere AC went that night everyone knew him. Everyone was excited to see him, laughing when he came around and showing him love. You see everyone loved this man and his energy was contagious. To end the night, he hit this dance with all the fans watching him on the dance floor. WHAT A NIGHT and WHAT A GUY AC WAS. Went to my second ever broadway show the other week and it was a one-man performance by Daniel Radcliffe aka Harry Potter. He spends the 20 minutes before every show handing out props and recruiting people to interact with him during the show. Never seen someone so dialled in. Was an amazing performance, 1.5 hours straight, no intermission. He does this night after night. Did some math with Claude and he probably makes $50K per week which is great $$ but still considerably less than what he would make for a movie role. His parents also helped him invest his Harry Potter earnings well and he makes $660K/month just off investments (UK companies are required to make full financial disclosures, very different from the US but very useful for this kind of pocket watching). Which means he never has to work again he just continues to do this for the love of the game. These kinds of in-person experiences and acts of passion are one of the few things that can’t be replaced by AI Oh also he does not like it when you call him Harry or bring up his old movies. Ask me how I know.

My 7-year-old son thinks it’s completely normal for me to play chess with him while Tesla FSD drives us. But the more I think about this… it hit me. To him, Tesla FSD may not look like some amazing piece of technology... to him it’s just normal life. He never experienced a world where every second in a car required the driver to be fully focused on steering, braking, and navigating. For him, he sees a car that safely handles the driving while Dad spends that time talking with him, teaching him, laughing with him, or playing a game of chess. That’s a pretty big shift when you really think about it. Every generation grows up taking for granted things that once seemed impossible. The internet. Smartphones. Video calls. Now we’re watching the beginning of that same transition with autonomy. For many adults, FSD still feels futuristic. For kids growing up today, it’s become the way cars work. What’s fascinating is that the biggest change is what people do with the time it gives back. Instead of staring at the road for hours, families can spend more time together, learn, work, relax, or simply enjoy the ride. My son doesn’t see autonomy as a breakthrough, like me. He sees this as normal. And that’s how I know the future is here.

Simplicity is at the heart of great software. This is one of the reasons why Claude Code has been sticky for me. As a builder, I love planning and brainstorming, and this is now a key focus of Claude Code. I use Shift + Tab a lot to cycle between brainstorming, planning, and execution. This functionality provides the appropriate interface for me to either be very involved or less involved as I please. This works particularly well when building out new and complex features or entire new projects. This saves a huge amount of time. It allows me to tune Claude Code to execute and build more effectively. It also builds a loop of trust, and I often (surprisingly) find Claude Code asking for clarifications when it's confused. Coding agents don't normally do that. I have shared before on the power of brainstorming with AI for longer times. Try it and you will not be disappointed. Vibe coding is fun, but pair it with intentional development cycles, and you watch how far you can take a project with coding agents today.
