Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) says he won't dip into the state's nearly $1 billion rainy-day fund to help Oklahomans at risk of losing their SNAP benefits because it would be "kind of complicated." "To access the rainy-day fund, it's set up in a way that you're only supposed to access it in a revenue failure, right? Well, we don't have a revenue failure. This is a federal government problem, not a state problem. And so, to access that, the max you can access is $300 million, and it takes two-third vote of the Legislature. So we'd have to call people back for a special session. And then, how do we actually get it delivered by Nov. 1 on those cards, which we don't have the access to do it? So that's what I mean that it's kind of complicated to deliver that."

We asked them to preserve that vehicle to make sure that it’s stored in a safe manner so that none of the evidence gets altered, modified, destroyed, or spoiled. If there’s any testing, it’s got to be done with us present. So that is an example of one piece of evidence that we don’t have access to. We would love to have access to it. We want to be able to start tracing forensics with it.
