On Wednesday, Chris Hipkins said the party would release more policy after the election, before quickly walking back his apparent Freudian slip and claiming it would be after the budget. On Friday, Willie Jackson was asked the same question. He began to say “just after the election,” then caught himself and changed it to “two to three months before the election.” Labour clearly has serious problems with its policy platform. More concerning, however, is the strong impression that it is keeping controversial policies up its sleeve, ready to release them only if it wins the election.
