First ever: To ensure the provision of clean drinking water to the people of South Punjab, a comprehensive project is being implemented at an unprecedented pace. Under this initiative: 🔹10 overhead reservoirs and 138 water centers are being established in Bahawalpur. 🔹12 overhead reservoirs and 256 water centers are being established in Rahim Yar Khan. 🔹7 overhead reservoirs and 100 water centers are being established in Rajanpur. The project, which began in March 2026, is scheduled for completion by September 2026. Across all districts of Punjab, areas prone to ponding, where rainwater accumulates during the rainy season, have been carefully identified. To minimize the risk of urban flooding and to strengthen the capacity of cities to manage stormwater effectively, a landmark initiative has been launched. For the first time in the history of Punjab, 358 Underground Storage Tanks (UGSs), including roadside underground storage systems equipped with recharge wells, are being constructed across the province. This major infrastructure project, with an estimated cost of Rs. 33 billion, will provide a combined storage capacity of approximately 94 million gallons of rainwater. These facilities will not only help mitigate urban flooding during heavy rainfall but will also support groundwater recharge and promote more sustainable water management in our cities. “This is My Sohna Punjab.”

And the messy part is that a lot of this infrastructure is dual-use with civilian data, banking data, cloud services, defense contracts, intelligence workloads all potentially blurred inside the same ecosystem. So if these facilities are being built next to neighborhoods, schools, and homes, people deserve to know more than “it brings jobs.” They deserve to know what kind of infrastructure they’re living next to, what risks come with it, and whether their community is secretly being folded into the map of modern warfare.
