In March 2025, they were arrested under 3 MPO. After three months, the government issued more than 40 FIRs against them, including various types of cases. We have faced these cases not only in courts but also in multiple districts, including Noshki, Dalbandin, Makuran, Naseerabad, Mastung, Kalat, and Khuzdar. These courts not only granted bail but also upheld the rule of law. In Quetta, we applied for bail in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) before Judge Muhammad Ali Mubeen. He granted bail in many cases; however, in some cases, he later suspended the bail. Despite this setback, we did not lose hope and approached the Balochistan High Court seeking justice in those bailable cases where the ATC had suspended bail. For the past two months, Chief Justice Kamran Mullah Khel has reserved his judgment, but no decision has yet been announced. This situation clearly reflects that the justice system of Pakistan is under pressure from state institutions, commonly referred to as the Establishment. Meanwhile, in Hudda Jail, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her colleagues have been facing jail trial proceedings for the past six months. During this period, the proceedings have not been conducted fairly or smoothly. Judge Muhammad Ali Mubeen who previously suspended bail in some cases has raised serious concerns about impartial justice. Our legal team, along with Dr. Mahrang Baloch, requested the transfer of the case to another judge. However, not only was this request denied, but the judge also threatened to add more charges against them. This is not merely a denial of justice; it is a direct threat to peaceful political activists who are the voice of their nation.

Earlier this morning, the Supreme Court dismissed my injunction application in which I requested the apex court to order a halt to full trials at the high courts while the Supreme Court is about to make a determination on my substantive writ challenging the constitutionality of conducting these full trials during the legal vacation. In his ruling, Justice Scott Pwamang said that while some cases are being treated differently and expeditiously, this would not amount to an infringement on the rights to equality before the law and the right to a fair trial. We have asked for a certified copy of the ruling to study and take advice. A date for the hearing of the substantive matter is yet to be fixed. We in the NPP believe that justice must not be selective and will continue to seek to have the selective application of laws addressed using the best means at our disposal. Video credit - The1957News
