INTENSE 😳 While being transported for drug possession and driving on a suspended license, Rheanna Harden managed to retrieve a gun in her pants and open fire on the arresting officer from the backseat. The officer lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. The officer, who was grazed in the right eye, exited the cruiser and returned fire. Both the officer and Harden were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Harden was charged with attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, among other charges.

Police had responded to a "disturbance" call and knocked on the wrong door. Bully cop gets his feelings hurt by a man with an open container takes things to the point that he got removed from duty pending investigation. Just after midnight on March 12, 2026, a Daytona Beach police officer, identified as Joel Llinas, approached 27-year-old tourist David Anderson, who was carrying a bottle of alcohol in public. Officer Llinas gave Anderson the option to either pour out the beverage or face a city open container violation. Anderson handed the bottle over to the officer. According to police reports, a physical struggle began when Anderson allegedly threw the bottle's cap at the officer immediately after handing over the bottle. Officer Llinas immediately took Anderson to the ground to place him under arrest, where he was subsequently handcuffed. The tension peaked after Anderson was moved to the front of the patrol car. Anderson verbally taunted the officer, stating, "I almost took you out, didn't I?" The situation quickly intensified as the officer took Anderson back to the ground. While bystander crowds gathered, footage captured a struggle on the pavement where the officer used unnecessary actions on Anderson while he was already restrained. The fallout from the incident was immediate: Anderson was initially charged with an open container violation and felony battery on a law enforcement officer. However, the State Attorney's Office officially dropped the felony battery charge, noting that the nature of the arrest itself was sufficient. As the officer was searching the premises he ran into Trey an employee of the hotel and also African American. The officer proceeded to pull his firearm on and hold Trey at gun point for a number of minutes. The whole time Trey had his hands up and was eventually on his knees. Once verified Trey was an employee all he said to him was get out of here. Next this officer pulled his gun on another person in the hotel that also did not fit the description. The officer resigned from duty as his certification was stripped from him. Trey filed suit against the city and pulled in a settlement.

Body Cam Justified Killing ... Peoria County State's Attorney Jodi Hoos cleared a Peoria police officer of wrongdoing on August 26, 2026, ruling the officer's use of deadly force was legally justified in the May 8 fatal downtown shooting of Cortez White (42), who had just shot and killed Ashley Stenson (42). May 8 Downtown Shooting Clearance (Ruled August 26, 2026) State's Attorney Jodi Hoos released findings from an Illinois State Police investigation showing a Peoria officer acted lawfully when fatally shooting 42-year-old Cortez White. White had shot his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Stenson, execution-style on a downtown sidewalk before pointing his weapon at the responding officer. According to Hoos, Stenson, living in Atlanta, flew into the Peoria Airport on May 8 for an upcoming wedding that weekend and was picked up by a cousin. Stenson’s ex-boyfriend, Cortez White, show up unexpectedly at the passenger door and opened it. Stenson looked confused because White had no reason to be in Peoria as he lived in St. Louis at the time, but Stenson posted on Facebook about her flight, and her cousin believed that was how White knew where she would be. Stenson left with White, but she told her cousin to follow them. She began texting family members that White was going to kill her and he refused to let her out of the pickup. Stenson’s family members then called 911 at around 6:45 p.m. to report that White was going to kill her, providing a description of both to police along with the pickup that he was driving. Stenson continued to text her location to her family as he drove throughout Peoria, eventually texting that they were at the Four Points by Sheraton downtown. An officer responded to that location, seeing them outside on the sidewalk. Hoos said that the officer asked them, “Are you Ashley? Are you Cortez? Keep your hands up,” as he got out of his squad car. Hoos said White immediately pulled out a gun and shot Stenson in the head right in front of the officer, continuing to shoot her while she was on the ground. Hoos then said he pointed the gun at the officer. The officer fired several shots at White. White tried to flee but the officer pursued, continuing to shoot at White before he eventually fell to the ground after being shot and was taken into custody. According to Hoos, an autopsy on Stenson showed White had shot her five times - twice to the head and once to the chest. White was shot multiple times. Hoos said it was abundantly clear that the officer was legally justified in using deadly force against White - the officer witnessing an execution-style murder right in front of him and White then pointing the gun directly at him. Either one of those two events would justify the use of deadly force. Hoos also said since it happened in broad daylight with other people in the area, the officer had a clear duty to try and apprehend White and that he was a threat to everyone in the vicinity. Stenson’s family members then called 911 at around 6:45 p.m. to report that White was going to kill her, providing a description of both to police along with the pickup that he was driving. Stenson continued to text her location to her family as he drove throughout Peoria, eventually texting that they were at the Four Points by Sheraton downtown. An officer responded to that location, seeing them outside on the sidewalk. Hoos said that the officer asked them, “Are you Ashley? Are you Cortez? Keep your hands up,” as he got out of his squad car. Hoos said White immediately pulled out a gun and shot Stenson in the head right in front of the officer, continuing to shoot her while she was on the ground. Hoos then said he pointed the gun at the officer. The officer fired several shots at White. White tried to flee but the officer pursued, continuing to shoot at White before he eventually fell to the ground after being shot and was taken into custody. According to Hoos, an autopsy on Stenson showed White had shot her five times - twice to the head and once to the chest. White was shot multiple times. Hoos said it was abundantly clear that the officer was legally justified in using deadly force against White - the officer witnessing an execution-style murder right in front of him and White then pointing the gun directly at him. Either one of those two events would justify the use of deadly force. Hoos also said since it happened in broad daylight with other people in the area, the officer had a clear duty to try and apprehend White and that he was a threat to everyone in the vicinity. A teen who was assaulted and slammed by a Warren police officer during booking has filed a $50 million lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed this week by Fieger Law. Matthew Rodriguez, 48, an officer with 14 years on the force, was charged Friday with assault and battery charges. Warren police announced Monday that he had been fired According to the lawsuit, the teen suffered physical and mental damage due to excessive force, and the city of Warren failed to properly train the officer. "Officer Matthew, with the specific intent to intimidate and/or harass Plaintiff, as a result of his race and/or ethnicity, caused physical contact with Plaintiff by striking him in the head and/or face with a fist and pulling him off the ground by his hair," the lawsuit reads. The lawsuit also says that the two other officers in the video failed to intervene and help the teen. “This is one of the most flagrant cases of police misconduct I’ve seen in my entire career as a trial attorney. The sheer violence and disregard for human life that these three officers showed is despicable and cannot be tolerated," said James Harrington of Fieger Law. The incident happened early this week at the Warren police department. The video shows the officer punching and grabbing the 19-year-old by his locs before slamming & launching him into his cell. Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer says an investigation was launched after the two officers in the video stepped up and told a supervisor about the incident. One officer was telling Rodriguez "That's enough" multiple times in an attempt to make the officer stop, Dwyer said. At first, they did not know why the officer was attacking him. Within a week, the officer was arrested, charged, and put on unpaid administrative leave, said Dwyer. The officer in the video also was out of policy and was not wearing bodycam. The officer has a lengthy history of alleged accessive force. He currently has two pending lawsuits.
