Anything but slashing immigration?

If you weren't flooding the country with immigrants and letting foreign nationalls buy property, we wouldn't have a property crisis.

Yet you’re taxing young Australians even more on other asset classes — ways they try to invest so they can afford that property. You’re the party of dream shatterers. Stop gaslighting Australians.

Clare, spare us the gaslighting. Four years of Labor incompetence: record net overseas migration exploding to 538,000 in 2022-23 (still hovering near half a million annually with 479k permanent/long-term arrivals in the year to Feb 2026), while housing supply flat-lined and affordability hit historic lows. You flooded demand without building enough homes — that’s why the system is “stacked against” young Aussies. Now your shiny new budget axes negative gearing and slashes capital gains tax discounts for investors — the exact tools aspiring Australians use to get ahead and actually add rental stock. Punishing the strivers to virtue-signal “fairness” while immigration stays sky-high? Classic Labor: create the crisis, then tax your way out of it. You didn’t “change” the system. You broke it worse. Stop pretending you’re the fix.

It’s stacked against them because Labor is importing the entire world into this country to compete against young Australians for homes. Ending immigration and deporting millions would be a good start towards affordable housing.

Young Australians can no longer get tax breaks that are grandfathered in for older Australians. Meanwhile, older Australians sell & rent property in a market where young Australians compete with endless inflows of foreigners. Clare O’Neil calls that “intergenerational equity”.

Supply and demand seems to be a concept entirely foreign to the ALP. The ALP intends to bring in even more migrants by 2028, taking the total to 2.2 million since they were elected in 2022. These 2.2 million people need somewhere to live and will compete for housing. For perspective, 2.2 million people arriving in six years is equivalent to the population of Canberra arriving every year. Canberra has: - 3 public hospitals and 10 major private hospitals - 101 medical centres - 150 schools - 500 daycare centres - 4 major water supply dams - 7 power generation sites - 200,000 residential dwellings - 270,000 jobs - 5,900 km of roadways - 814 km² of space We would need to create all of this every year to accommodate them. Every single year. But the ALP has not improved infrastructure to cope with any of the 400,000 immigrants, nor could it. All they are concerned about is getting new voters to stay in power. It is sheer insanity, and we are going to pay for it.

House prices are determined by demand-supply imbalances, and you have flooded the country with 3.7million people in 10 years. Multiple reviews have shown tax settings contribute only 3-4% of total house price. In other words, this won't move the needle.

We all know that is massive immigration and not negative gearing that is pushing house prices up Labor just announced in the budget papers that another 2 million are coming in the next three years

Stop gaslighting everyone. Chalmers said these changes will make house prices grow slowly at 2%. If Aus housing is around 10× income, and wages grow at 4% per year while house prices grow at 2%, it would take about 47 yrs to get back to 4× income (affordable ratio)

You've already condemned the young to a life of poverty. Why are you so intent on making it worse? Stop interfering in the market and deport the endless stream of unqualified and dishonest immigrants.

Fuck off Clare. You still allow overseas buyers to buy new housing stock. And short term rentals like Airbnb. The Alphas done nothing to build housing stock for a decade. And you’ve allowed 3 million migrants and “students” in over the last 5 years. Fools.
